There’s a whole bunch of fans who’re expecting John Cena to appear at WrestleMania this weekend in some capacity. While that may come to fruition, it seems like a one-night wonder. Less is known about the role he’s potentially getting handed, coupled with unbridled speculation that he’ll guide Cody Rhodes home in his quest to finish the story against The Bloodline.

But as per an update from PWInsider, the 46-year-old WWE icon would likely be off the board physically post-WrestleMania. He’s slated to film the second season of Peacemaker from June to November. The report did add that some in WWE are expecting John Cena to be in Philadelphia this weekend, which falls in line with his rumored ‘Mania appearance.

Recently, The Cenation Leader fueled the fuss in regards to his fantasized faceoff with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania XL. Cena went on to post a cryptic image of a rock with sunglasses over it on Instagram. A while ago, he teased teeing off with The People’s Champ while being on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

Though it’s possible that none of it materializes, the fans are more than hopeful for him to level up with The Bloodline. Last November at Crown Jewel, the Franchise Player succumbed to Solo Sikoa. The latter bombarded Cena’s chest with a barrage of countless Samoan spikes.

And shortly after failing to school The Bloodline’s Enforcer, the Ricky Stanicky star went back to Hollywood. Another man who could join the latter in a potential mutiny against The Rock and Roman Reigns at ‘Mania 40 is “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. He recently received a bunch of Easter eggs in a basket full of bears at the back of his ranch.

John Cena hinted last year that his time in WWE was coming up

It may seem like a broken record, but John Cena hasn’t much left as an in-ring performer in WWE. Back in December, he made a digital appearance on an episode of SmackDown via satellite, reminding the fans that he isn’t certain of his remaining time over there.

Nonetheless, The Prototype said he felt indebted to the way WWE Universe welcomes him with open arms every time he gets back. Shortly after that, he seemed to have set a deadline for when he would hang up his wrestling boots for good.

I’m giving myself, like, hey, if you don’t figure it out until (the age of 50), you’re just done. If we don’t come up with something that we can present to our WWE universe as a wave goodbye, if it doesn’t happen by then, I’ll just silently announce it on X or whatever the platform is.
John Cena on his retirement plans

In an interview with Today.com, the 16-time World Champion alluded that he’d be done by the time he turns 50. He stated that if WWE and himself couldn’t figure out a way to orchestrate his retirement, he would simply announce it on X or any other platform.
