The WWE Universe exploded with joy when they saw John Cena via video call on this Friday night’s SmackDown. The Cenation leader hijacked Roman Reigns’ segment and revealed himself as Kevin Owens’ partner in a tag team match against Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns.
The match will take place on the December 30th edition of SmackDown. Just a few days ago, WWE confirmed that John Cena would appear on the December 30th edition of SmackDown, but the plans weren’t revealed.
John Cena, being the golden boy of the company, is always a plus for the WWE to have him on the show. The SmackDown edition’s ratings and viewership will undoubtedly soar. The former WWE Champion has been making sporadic appearances since 2017 due to his hectic movie career.
John Cena was a regular before that and mostly worked on pushing other talents in the company. Cena had a wonderful 2012 and 2013 in the WWE, and it’s considered to be one of his best works. During December 2012, Cena feuded with Dolph Ziggler and his on-screen girlfriend AJ Lee.
Cena fought for Ziggler’s MITB contract at the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs PLE on December 16th. Cena was defeated at the event, and their rivalry ended in January 2013, after Cena defeated Ziggler in a Steel Cage Match on RAW. Dolph Ziggler took time today to recall his encounter with Cena at the TLC PLE. Ziggler recalled how awesome the crowd at the event was and said that he had a lot of fun.

What are the future plans for John Cena in the WWE?
Since last month, there have been reports that John Cena may fight for a match at WrestleMania 39. Although there has been no confirmation in the reports, Cena’s return to WWE on SmackDown has fueled the rumors. The WWE Universe believe that this might be Cena’s brief run in the WWE.
According to Xero News, John Cena is also set to be a part of the Royal Rumble, and he will be eliminated by Logan Paul in the Rumble match. This will set their feud in motion, and the two will face each other at WrestleMania 39.

Logan Paul, who is currently suffering from a MCL tear, may make it to the Royal Rumble as it takes six weeks to recover from an MCL tear. In the end, it all depends on Maverick and how much time he takes to recover.
