The Judgment Day member Dominik Mysterio will compete at NXT’s upcoming premium live event, No Mercy. However, the third-generation superstar had plans for the weekend prior to the announcement. During an interview on the most recent edition of NXT, Dominik revealed that he will spend quality time with his on-screen girlfriend, Rhea Ripley.
The NXT North American Champion said, “I have a free Saturday to hang out with Mami in a big comfy couch. Eat some chicken tenders.” As a result, fans pointed out Dominik’s reference to chicken tenders. Previously, The Judgment Day member promulgated the 26-year-old’s fondness for the food item.
At first, Dominik Mysterio was scheduled to defend his title against Mustafa Ali at No Mercy. But Ali’s abrupt release led to the cancellation of the bout. As a result, Dominik believed he had no match for Saturday’s event and decided to spend the day with Rhea Ripley. However, it didn’t take long for Shawn Michaels to ruin Dom’s proposed plans.
The Hall of Famer announced a #1 contender Fatal-4-way battle on the same night. Trick Williams subsequently secured the victory and his match against Dominik Mysterio was made official. In addition to that, Dirty Dom’s rival, Dragon Lee, will act as the special guest referee at No Mercy. Needless to say, the NXT North American Champion was not at all happy with the events that unfolded throughout the course of Tuesday’s episode.
Dominik Mysterio claims he’s better than Rey Mysterio
Needless to say, Dominik Mysterio has grown in stature over the course of the past year. The NXT North American Champion turned on his father Rey Mysterio at Clash At The Castle 2022. Despite losing the match against the legendary luchador at WrestleMania 39, Dom recently claimed that he’s better than the Hall of Famer.
During an interview on In The Kliq, the 26-year-old stated that he’s the one who is carrying the Mysterio name. “I don’t think there will ever be a next Rey Mysterio—not because he is my dad but because the Mysterio that matters is me,” opined Dominik. The Judgment Day member talked about headlining several shows as a factor as well.
“The fact that I’m out here, I’m main eventing all three show in one week, literally the main event of RAW every week. I’m like, there is no next Rey Mysterio; I’m the Mysterio that matters, plain and simple,” he further added. Therefore, the animosity between father and son is seemingly far from over..
