Doudrop, aka Piper Niven, mysteriously went missing after a brief NXT run in September last year. The fans were left wondering where she went as her former tag team partner Nikki Cross went through a character change in the meantime. Now, the Scottish superstar has given some insights into her recovery.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo, former Piper Niven revealed why she had to leave WWE briefly to recover from a serious health scare. She said, “Sadly, I got covid real bad and the symptoms that I was having, they were concerned about my heart. God bless them, they took the best care of me. They got every test from my heart that they can muster and every single one of them came back clean as a whistle, and to some people’s annoyance, my heart is in excellent condition.”
Previously, Doudrop had given updates on her Twitter account as well. However, this is the first time she has explained the absence in much detail. When asked about a possible return at the Royal Rumble, she said, “I’ll be around. In what capacity, I’m not gonna tell, but I’ll be around.” It will be exciting to watch the UK native make her return this Saturday. The fans who are familiar with her work in the independent scene and NXT UK must be aware of her real caliber in the ring.

In NXT UK, Piper Niven was a superstar at the main event level. However, Niven never won the NXT UK women’s championship before she got called up to the main roster. She was brought in as a protegee of Eva Marie, who named her “Doudrop.” Her main roster run was nowhere near the level of NXT UK. Doudrop would feature in lackluster feuds and filler matches on Monday Night Raw. She won the 24/7 title twice, which was sadly her first-ever title in the company.
The closest she came to winning the title was at Royal Rumble 2022. Becky Lynch defended her Raw Women’s title successfully against Doudrop at the Premium Live event. Later that year Doudrop and Nikki ASH formed a tag team. After a failed attempt at WWE Women’s Tag Team titles, they went down to NXT to challenge for their tag belts. Doudrop’s last match in WWE was against Katana Chance and Kayden Carter at NXT Worlds Collide. As she has teased a return for this Saturday’s Rumble match, the fans must be delighted to see Doudrop in a WWE run by Triple H.
