Well, not everything goes as planned for anyone. The same can be said for Dwayne Johnson. One of the most hyped DC Universe movies of recent times was Black Adam, which turned out to be a massive box office flop. Going by the numbers, the Dwayne Johnson-starrer lost about $100 million due to its lackluster performance. Also, the movie received a Metacritic score of 41 while they could only pull out a 39 on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the third worst-rated DC film in history.
In another shocking revelation, it has come to light that Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam salary was put to shame by his own brand. As we know, the Brahma Bull owns Teremana Tequila, and the advertising it had in Red Notice did wonders for the brand. According to a report from Concave Brand Tracking, the aforementioned brand products received a screen time of 28 minutes out of 118 minutes of Red Notice.
The co-actors Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds most likely benefited from good placement and smart branding. The two actors amassed a flabbergasting net profit of $40 million from their respective brands alone. Apart from this, Dwayne was paid slightly more as a perk for being one of the film producers.
Now when we compare how much Dwayne made from Black Adam, it just feels an embarrassment. Dwayne Johnson booked a sizeable paycheck of around $22.5 million from the DC Universe film. Despite being one of Johnson’s highest-paid salaries, it was less than half of the profit he made from Teremana Tequila in Red Notice.
