WWE Hall of Famer Edge looks to be in the final days of his wrestling career. He is set to wrestle in Toronto on Friday against Sheamus on SmackDown. This will be a first-time clash between the two veterans in WWE. However, there have been rumors spreading like wildfire that it will be Edge’s last match in WWE.

While talking to ET Canada, the 49-year-old talked about the possibility of retiring after Friday’s match. Edge confirmed that this will be his last match under his current contract with WWE. He also said that he has not decided yet if he will renew his contract or not. However, the Rated-R superstar stated that he would contemplate this after his match with Sheamus.

The WWE Hall of Famer also mentioned that his body is not as good as it used to be. He is suffering from multiple problems, which make it difficult for him to wrestle on a regular basis. Edge said that he has to prepare himself a lot before having a match now as compared to his matches in the past, as he is nearing 50 this year. Therefore, he said he is skeptical about whether to retire this Friday or continue.

If Edge decides to have his final match on SmackDown in his hometown, fans will fondly remember him as one of the greatest World Champions WWE has ever had. Debuting as a tag team with Christian during the Attitude Era, Edge became popular due to their alliance with Gangrel calling themselves the Brood. In the next few years, Edge and Christian had a series of TLC Tag Team matches, which are considered to be the highlights of the Attitude Era. As the Ruthless Aggression Era arrived, WWE decided to push Edge as a singles star, and he delivered on it, becoming the top star of the company.

During the next few years, Edge would form a tag team with Randy Orton and feud with DX. As a singles star, his most notable feuds came against John Cena, Matt Hardy, and The Undertaker, among others. During this time, he won the World Championship 11 times and also won the Royal Rumble in 2011. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire in 2011 due to multiple neck problems. However, in 2020, Edge shocked the world by returning as an entrant in the Royal Rumble.

In the next three years, he would have the run of his life, feuding with the next generation of superstars, including Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and Finn Balor. He also won the Royal Rumble in 2021, exactly ten years after his first Rumble victory. Therefore, when all is said and done, fans will look back on Edge’s career as one of the best.
