John Cena was the face of WWE for more than a decade, leading the “Ruthless Aggression” era and the transition of the product into PG. However, The Prototype was often criticised for his “burial” of multiple stars over the years. As a result, The Face of WWE faced backlash from fans in his later years for being over-pushed. Recently, Heath Slater commented on how he perceived John Cena.
In his recent conversation on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, the former WWE superstar talked about his interaction with John Cena. While he commended the 16-time world champion as a person, he had some hot takes on his former WWE cohort as a pro wrestler. The Impact star commented, “One thing I know about John Cena, he is about John Cena.”
In contrast, Heath Slater said that he is not that “me-me guy” and likes to help out others. Slater said that he was cool with Cena and that the Champ would talk to him whenever he wanted to. However, the former Nexus member also revealed that Cena would do his thing no matter what. Heath adds, “If I ever needed to talk to John, he would talk to me… He’d be cool with me. The man John, talking bullsh*t with him, he is cool. But when it comes to John Cena the professional wrestler, brother, in his mind, he is Superman, and no one’s going to change that sh*t.”
Heath Slater calls John Cena the loudest spot caller
It is no secret in modern times that Wrestling matches are well choreographed and predetermined. While competitors have a brief layout of the match in their minds, they still have to communicate in the ring to get their opponent’s support for pulling off great matches. These calls are usually meant to be secret, but sometimes fans do hear wrestlers call out spots during their matches. And according to Heath Slater, there is no one louder in calling spots than John Cena.
In his interview with WSI, the former SmackDown Tag Team Champion was asked who is the loudest spot caller. And Slater, without thinking much, named Cena. Recalling his time in Nexus, Slater said that even 12 years ago, he was so loud that “the first eight rows could hear him.”
In contrast, the Impact star commended some referees as being the best at their practice. Naming officials like Charles Robinson and Mike Chioda, who would subtly communicate with wrestlers and give crucial cues during the match. In past interviews, Slater had dropped hints that he was pretty certain that the Cenation leader had some say in the burial of Nexus all those years ago. Now, this recent interview seems to add more weight to those claims. Nevertheless, the 16-time world champion is going to return to WWE this Monday on Raw in Boston, Massachusetts.
