Dwayne The Rock Johnson dropped a bombshell when he revealed he was open to facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Afterward, he made a stupendous return to the WWE on last week’s SmackDown. Recently, Hulk Hogan commented on the potential “dream match” between the two Anoa’i family members.

In an interview with SI, the Hukster claimed that The Rock’s return bout would end up being the biggest moment of the night. First, he reminisced about his battle with the Great One at WrestleMania 18. Despite being a heel, the Toronto crowd cheered for Hogan while booing Dwayne. Therefore, they reversed their roles during the match, which led to one of the greatest fights in WWE history.

Hulk Hogan mentioned that The Rock’s age wouldn’t be a factor if he returned. “Rock’s in great shape, better than I was, and he is so smart inside the ring. It would be great to see him come back. It would be bigger than him, too. It’s something that would be significant for everyone in wrestling,” the Hall of Famer explained. Evidently, he was full of praise for his former rival.

According to him, no one bigger than the Brahma Bull can headline next year’s Showcase of Immortals. “Even though he hasn’t wrestled in a while, if he goes out there, Rock is going to tear that place down,” Hogan added. Needless to say, it is hard to argue against his claims about The Rock being an unfathomable presence.

The Rock was originally supposed to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30

The Rock has been at the center of headlines as of late. According to the legend, he is “down” for a match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Hence, if he decides to show up, it will mark his first match since 2013’s spectacle. However, the future HOF’er was originally set to square off against Brock Lesnar on the 30th anniversary of the show.

As per Dave Meltzer of WON via TJRWrestling, he pulled from the potential bout due to an injury scare. As a result, The Rock had to postpone a few of his Hollywood projects and appear in segments whenever he returned to the WWE.

“He never did another match, as the movie studios didn’t want him to risk injury. So doing WrestleMania would also depend on movie scheduling,” Meltzer said. Due to the present-day SAG-AFTRA strike, WrestleMania 40 will be the best possible time for the Great One to return to WWE for a proper match.
