In a ground-breaking update, John Cena is finally making his return to WWE very soon. While there were rumors regarding Cena returning to WWE at Wrestlemania 39 but it seems like Friday Nights are going to be rocking once again as the leader of the CENATION looks out to make his return to the company on the final SmackDown of 2022.

The fans have been eagerly waiting for Cena to show up one more time in WWE as the former WWE Champion last wrestled at Summerslam 2021. It seems like the wait is finally over as Variety has exclusively reported that John Cena would be returning to WWE at the final Smackdown of the year 2022.

The final SmackDown of the year is scheduled to take place on 30/12/22 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. John Cena last appeared on WWE RAW in June to celebrate his 20 years in the company. Reportedly, he was scheduled to start a feud with Austin Theory, but the plans were nixed because of Cena’s busy Hollywood Schedule.

John Cena has been occupied because of filming the second season of the HBO-hit show Peacemaker. Cena plays the titular role in the series and has been well-received by the fans in the role. John Cena last faced Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021 in a losing effort and after that he also wrestled a dark match at Madison Square Garden in September 2021. Nevertheless, the fans would surely be excited to hear this update and will be looking forward to see Cena back in the squared circle after such a long time.

In a recent update, John Cena’s WrestleMania 39 return rumors had been squashed due to his busy Hollywood schedule. In the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer had noted that Cena would be busy filming his upcoming movie with Zac Efron next year due to which he is likely to miss WrestleMania 39.

To those unaware, John Cena is reportedly doing a film with the Baywatch star, named “Ricky Stanicky.” The Project had reported that Cena and Efron would be departing to Melbourne in early 2023 to begin filming for the comedy film. Thus, under these circumstances, it would be extremely difficult for the multi-time world champion to show up at the Showcase of the Immortals.

But this latest update regarding the return of WWE’s one of the most decorated superstars has opened the gate of endless possibilities. The return could just be only for a night, but it’ll be better for the company to utilize Cena as much as possible to build up high intensity for the first WrestleMania under the new regime. Though no official confirmation regarding Cena has yet been conveyed by WWE.
