Latest update on when CM Punk could return to AEW
Dave Meltzer recently provided a timeline for when CM Punk will be "available" for a return to AEW, while also stating that it may cause other problems for the company.

One of the biggest stories last year surprisingly came out of a post-show media scrum from AEW. Just moments after winning the AEW World Championship, CM Punk went on a rant against Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, and The Elite. Shortly after that, reports came out that the Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Punk were involved in a backstage fight. Consequently, all the individuals involved in the brawl were indefinitely suspended. Since Elite has already served its time and returned to the company in November, everyone is now asking if the Best in the World will even return to the company or not.
On top of his suspension, CM Punk also suffered a torn tricep following his match at All Out. The Chicago native underwent immediate surgery to prevent any “muscle atrophy” and further complications. The time of recovery from the said injury was estimated to be around eight months. Likewise, Dave Meltzer has recently given an update on the timeline for Punk’s return, if it is to happen.
Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio talked about AEW lacking “something fierce” in the babyface department. The conversation led to Punk when Meltzer said, “Punk’s not gonna be the guy either. I know some people might say, ‘Well Punk’s coming back’… Punk may come back. He will be available to come back if they want to use him in a couple of months. It’s not like it’s so far in the future. And of course, if they were to bring Punk back, that opens up a lot of other issues that we can talk about another day.” (h/t WrestleTalk)

Will CM Punk and The Elite work together in AEW?
In his “FTR with Dax” podcast, Dax Harwood gave his thoughts on the CM Punk-Elite situation. The former AEW tag champ opined that both parties should hash things out and work together. Harwood truly wants to work with all of them in AEW and if they can, it would make the company some big bucks. When the clip of this was shared on Instagram, the Best in the World himself commented on the video with just the word “duh.”
However, Bryan Alvarez from the Wrestling Observer also had thoughts on Dax’s comments. On the contrary, Alvarez believes that there is no chance that CM Punk and the Elite could work together after a fight of this magnitude. Despite everything that has gone down, the Straight Edge Superstar is still under an AEW contract. This is because it wouldn’t be viable for Tony Khan to release a wrestler who is recovering from an injury. In the end, all signs do suggest that AEW might buy out the rest of Punk’s contract and leave him be.
