Dream match between Logan Paul and John Cena reportedly cancelled
According to a recent report, WWE was planning a money match between John Cena and Logan Paul, which has now been cancelled for a variety of reasons.
Logan Paul alongside John Cena
Ever since making his appearance on WWE TV, Logan Paul has been a great performer. He first appeared back in April 2021 on SmackDown in a segment with Sami Zayn. Since then, he has been involved in notable occasions and matches as well. His first match took place last year at WrestleMania, where he teamed up with The Miz to take on the Mysterios. He surprised everyone with his performance by winning his first wrestling match ever. After three great matches in his rookie year, he was reportedly set to face John Cena at WrestleMania this year.
After his win against The Miz at SummerSlam last year, Logan Paul competed for the Undisputed title against the Tribal Chief. At Crown Jewel last year, Logan Paul had one of the best matches of the year against Roman Reigns. However, Logan failed to capture the Undisputed title and also suffered an injury during the match. He suffered a knee injury and was set to recover and return to the ring at WrestleMania. WWE had plans for an attraction match between Logan Paul and John Cena at WrestleMania this year. However, as reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, it’s unlikely to happen now.
Dave on Wrestling Observer Radio said that the match got canceled due to the inexperience of Logan Paul. John Cena has a very busy schedule currently, and he doesn’t have time for practice with Logan. Meltzer said, “The worry about Logan Paul is, the feeling is you need lots and lots and lots of practice and John Cena doesn’t have the time to do that practice.” As a result of the change in plans, Logan Paul might wrestle someone else at WrestleMania.

John Cena had his latest match on SmackDown last year
At the final SmackDown of 2022, John Cena made a surprising return to team up with Kevin Owens. In his latest match on SmackDown last year, Cena and Owens took on the team of Undisputed champion Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. The team of Cena and Owens managed to win against The Bloodline in the main event of the show. The tag team match also marked John Cena’s only match in 2022. While Cena looked in great shape, we might see more from him this year.
Since his return, rumors have circulated that Cena might be a surprise entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Fans could see the former two-time Rumble winner make another appearance in the match. As for his WrestleMania match, Cena might wrestle someone else after the change of plans with Logan Paul. Dave Meltzer also discussed Cena’s substitute opponent after the change in plans. Dave stated, “Cena can go with Theory and Theory is experienced enough, so they don’t need lots and lots of practice to have a decent match.”
After being featured on the WWE 2K23 game cover, speculations about his return started circulating even more. John Cena didn’t wrestle in a match in the last two years at WrestleMania. This year, he could possibly have a match against the U.S. champion, Austin Theory, at the Show of Shows. In order to plant the seeds for the match, Cena might come face-to-face with Theory in the men’s Royal Rumble match. As for the fans, they would love to see Cena return to the ring to have more matches in the future.
