Matt Riddle went into temporary hibernation after publicly announcing his departure from WWE. Earlier this month, on January 6, he made his in-ring debut for MLW, where he defeated Jacob Fatu. Not only that, he’s also lined up for a singles showdown against Hiroshi Tanahashi in February. Apart from whatever Matt’s penciled in for, his WWE release is still an apple of discord for many, especially after the volatile claims he’s made of late.

While appearing on The Kurt Angle Show, he recently stated that WWE offered him a substantial raise before he was axed. The figure on which the two parties agreed was about $1 million, said Riddle. The former MMA artist also disclosed that he was already making $750,000 at that juncture. However, the 38-year-old believes a thing or two that precluded him from getting on a higher payroll.

First, he cited the WWE-UFC merger as a major cause. He wasn’t shy about mentioning his diabolical relationship with UFC president Dana White. Moreover, The Super King of Bros admitted he ruffled a few feathers with the H.R. department of WWE as well, alluding to his unscrupulous behavior outside of the squared circle.

I was gonna get paid a million dollars starting next year but I also think the merger didn’t help and then also, my behavior didn’t help either and I ruffled some feathers with H.R. in the last couple of months.

Not to forget that an inebriated Riddle created a ruckus at the JFK airport back in October. Also, he had already been suspended twice for violating WWE’s Wellness Policy. All these factors also contributed to WWE higher-ups deciding to get rid of him. Before Matt’s firing, there were some major plans for him to continue his on-screen alliance with Drew McIntyre.

Matt Riddle cites the two instances where WWE robbed him

The former RK-Bro member recently made an audacious claim that he was originally locked-in to win the 2022 Royal Rumble match. However, as the fans know, it eventually ended up with Brock Lesnar entering last and winning the whole thing.

During an in-studio meet-and-greet with Signed with Superstars, Riddle said that Lesnar’s backstage influence robbed him of everything. If Matt’s words are to be believed, The Beast simply didn’t want to work with him and even made the producers not utter a single word. During the match, Brock tossed Riddle over the top rope with authority.

Not only this, but the ex-WWE figure also cited another instance of the same accord. After his alleged Rumble match victory was pilfered out, Matt then said that Vince McMahon had plans to make him become Mr. Money in the Bank that year. However, once again, he didn’t end up getting that briefcase as Austin Theory came out on top.
