In the past few days, the King of Bros, Matt Riddle has once again made the headlines. This time, he was reflecting on his time in WWE. He even went on to make bold claims about how he was supposed to win the Money in the Bank 2022 and the Royal Rumble. It couldn’t happen because he identified himself as a victim of last-minute changes, synonymous with the regime of Vince McMahon.

However, Wrestling Radio Observer’s Dave Meltzer seems to have contradictory opinions. He debunked Riddle’s statement about Money in the Bank by stating how there wasn’t a clear choice in the first place. Though he agreed on Austin Theory being a last-minute change, he clarified that Riddle’s chances of winning were equal to any other participant in the match.

For the Royal Rumble victory, Meltzer stated how he was never seriously considered as an option. The veteran reporter stated how Riddle did have his share of supporters who pushed his name for the match. However, he also claimed that Riddle had an equal share of opponents who loathed him for his controversies.

It seems the judgment rests in the hands of the fans. Riddle has already focused on making big outside the Stamford-based company. Riddle has flaunted his opulent lifestyle with his adult-star wife, Misha Montana. On the work front, he is set to challenge, Hiroshi Tanahashi in NJPW’s New Beginning in Sapporo Event, at the end of February 2024.

Matt Riddle promises to leave his ‘420 Bro’ persona while traveling to Japan

Matt Riddle is someone who is closely associated with the practice of getting high in the wrestling community. However, it seems he’ll have to start quelling this habit if he wishes to make it big in Japan. The Stallion is scheduled to face Hiroshi Tanahashi for the World Television Championship and he teased it through a vignette during NJPW’s New Year Dash event.

With that being said, Riddle is scheduled to travel to the Land of Rising Sun, and here’s how he’ll prepare for it:

You know, I think the '420 Bro' probably won't make it to Japan … And honestly, regardless of what people think, I've never been arrested.

This statement came from his recent appearance at the Signed by Superstars. Moreover, the Original Bro felt a bit conflicted during this statement. He signaled the possibility of going clean in Japan. However, he kept reiterating how he had been never arrested for any drug misuse.

For the unversed, Japan has strict laws against the use, sale, and growth of marijuana. Anyone caught possessing can be sentenced to multiple years in prison. All in all, it seems taking the risk would be a disastrous decision on the part of Riddle.
