From the past few days, Stephen A Smith has been a hot topic of discussion. Obviously, as a sports journalist and radio host, it’s his obligation to deliver unadulterated content to his ardent devotees. However, this past Tuesday on ESPN’s First Take, the 55-year old New York native disclosed his Wrestlemania 39 plans.

With WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair as the guest, Smith revealed that he’s going to make it to the biggest pop-culture extravaganza of 2023 in LA. Since then, there’s been a ton of chatter surrounding this man and his potential place on WWE programming so as to accommodate him for Mania.

A few hours ago, LA Times contributor Kurt Bardella tweeted out that Stephen A Smith and Paul Heyman would make the greatest ever promo-battle between two managers. Seemingly he was not aware of the exact terminology to refer Mr. Heyman and henceforth got eventually rectified by the legendary WWE figure as well.

Heyman wasted little time to teach how things really work out. He corrected Kurt and said that he’s a “special-counsel” to the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. And moving onto his next point, Heyman vanquished any sort of air, if any, to declare that Stephen A Smith is not on his league. Making a mockery of Smith’s vocals, the Special Counsel said that the former only screams for the Ocean of Obscurity, while Heyman resides on the Island of Relevancy. In his interview mentioned above with Ric Flair, the ESPN correspondent got shot with an idea of having him around for Wrestlemania next year. In response, Smith responded pretty optimistically and said that he would love to be a heel manager. The way he spoke, it was crystal clear that he’s a big fan of creating troubles and boss around, rather than pretending to be a nice guy.

Apart from being a heel manager, Stephen Smith added that he would be happy to do this, given that no one throws a punch at him. Basically, he wants to avoid any kind of bumps if he do ends up managing a WWE Superstar for Mania. He jokingly added that, “I’m too frail”. Here’s exactly what he said,

“Listen, Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan, Paul Heyman and these guys—I would love to be a bad guy manager. I don’t wanna be one of those goody-two-shoes guys, I wanna be the trouble- making bad manager. I think I could pull it off,” Smith said before adding that he wouldn’t want to take any bumps. “If they want me to be a bad guy manager, no one can touch me. I’m gonna add that as part of my contract. Nobody can touch me! I’m too frail.”

Well, if we look around and think of a perfect candidate for Smith to manage, a perfect name pops up. The current SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is on a forgettable title reign which has been widely criticized among WWE fans as well. If the company wants to add more intrigue in Rousey’s feud leading upto Mania, she could have Stephen A Smith being her mouthpiece for a while.
