Heading into the women’s Royal Rumble match this Saturday, Raquel Rodriguez looks confident enough for the event. The Royal Rumble PLE will take place in San Antonio, Texas. Raquel is no stranger to the location, as she is from Texas. The Texas native reflected on many things, including the start of her wrestling career and how she feels coming back home. As she buckles up for her return after being announced for the women’s Royal Rumble match, she commented on her opponents in the upcoming match.
Raquel Rodriguez expressed her excitement heading into the Royal Rumble this Saturday. She also discussed many other aspects in a recent interview with The Dallas Morning News. Raquel expressed how she felt delighted to see her family after a long time. She suffered an injury the last time she was in the ring on the final SmackDown of 2022. The match was against Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown women’s title, which she lost. She also reflected on her recovery and being healthy enough to return this Saturday. She mentioned that her body is doing fine and is ready for Saturday.
Raquel Rodriguez made her debut on WWE’s developmental brand NXT back in 2017. She had a notable career in NXT before being called up to the main roster. Raquel is a former NXT women’s tag team champion and made her main roster debut in April last year on SmackDown. In just her second match on the main roster, she squared off against the former SmackDown Women’s champion Ronda Rousey. When asked about Ronda, she had only praise for her. Raquel described how she used to look up to Ronda and how great she was to work with.
Raquel Rodriguez gets ready for the women’s Royal Rumble match
With all the rumors and reports leading up to the Royal Rumble on Saturday, fans must be anticipating the women’s Rumble match. Raquel Rodriguez must have her eyes set on the possible winners, rumored to be Rhea Ripley or Becky Lynch. Raquel is taller and stronger than the other female stars on the roster. Given her size, fans could expect a power-packed performance from her. She talked about her competitors in the women’s Rumble match in the interview.
Despite the strong possibility of Raquel not winning the Rumble match, fans would expect her to last longer with most eliminations. Talking about her facing Rhea, she said, “I hate her! I hate her so – no, I’m just kidding. No, I love that girl. She’s my best friend.” Raquel reflected in the interview on how she is keen on making an impact this Saturday, even if she has to throw her friend Rhea over the top rope. She failed to win the women’s title against Ronda last month, but WWE might have huge plans for her this year.
Currently, the record for most eliminations in a women’s Royal Rumble match is “8” eliminations. The record holders are both Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler, with eight eliminations each. This Saturday might be a chance for Raquel Rodriguez to create history by breaking the previous record and eliminating more than eight women in the match. On being asked about the number of eliminations, she said, “Definitely, I do have my eyes set on nine to 10 eliminations to break the record.” She must be focused on her return to the ring in a grand fashion with the most eliminations.
