WWE Superstar and current WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley was recently at a ‘Footy’ event in Australia alongside her real-life boyfriend and AEW superstar Buddy Matthews.
The incident occurred shortly after Rhea Ripley’s reported injury by Nia Jax’s return. It sparked fan outrage due to Jax’s history of being considered unsafe in the ring.
“The irresistible force” Nia Jax has injured some of the best talents that the WWE locker room has to offer. From Charlotte Flair to Becky Lynch to even R-Truth, Nia Jax has injured more people than she has won championships. Seeing the top woman on the raw roster get injured was something no one wished would happen. Fans initially thought Rhea Ripley’s injury was real. However, a video of her with her boyfriend Buddy Matthews at a football event surfaced online.
Rhea’s injury may not be entirely genuine, suggesting she needed a break from her constant appearances with “The Judgement Day” over the past year. Her time off provided fans with a rare look into her personal life with her fiancé.

Rhea Ripley’s fantastic evolution
In 2013, Demi Bennett began her wrestling career in Riot City Wrestling, Australia. By 2017, she joined WWE as ‘Rhea Ripley’, debuted in NXT, and competed in the ‘Mae Young Classic’. She reached the semi-finals before she lost to Iyo Sky. Ripley then moved to NXT UK, becoming the NXT UK Women’s Champion by defeating Toni Storm. She held the title for 139 days.
Rhea Ripley debuted on the main roster in 2020, winning the WWE Women’s and Tag Team Championships by 2021. As her character became seen as bland, a significant shift occurred with her joining “The Judgement Day”.
Rhea aligned with Edge and Damian Priest, turning heel and adopting the “Mami” gimmick in WWE. With Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio, she’s at her career peak, winning the WWE Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 39 against Charlotte Flair. Nonetheless, from NXT UK rookie to leading ‘The Judgement Day,’ Rhea has showcased her commendable character evolution.
