16-time World Champion Ric Flair is among the best wrestlers in the world to ever do it. He was known for his energetic promo skills and owning the ring whenever he had a match during his career. However, everyone has a breaking point, as seen with the Nature Boy himself when he walked out of a comedy roast show midway through a joke. Flair took offense to the joke about his son, Reid, who had tragically passed away in 2013.
Before walking out, Flair spoke to the people on the stage and the audience. He said, “I don’t make fun of people. I’m ready to leave in one minute, guys. Love you. I am, I am. You know why? I’m uncomfortable with the format. I appreciate the opportunity. I will never ever… there is no humor in the world that makes fun of people.”
Flair also clarified that his son did not die while wrestling and that he was a fantastic wrestler. He died of a heroin overdose in 2013, which he has made peace with. However, he does not appreciate people making jokes about it because that is not humor. Flair also said that he does not wish ill for anyone on the stage, but he just does not find it funny.
Therefore, Flair decided to walk out of the show. Despite being 74 years old, the Nature Boy continues to be one of the most beloved figures in the world of professional wrestling. His illustrious career spanned over 50 years, during which he won the most number of world championships, which remains a record to this day.
Who was Ric Flair’s son Reid Flair?
Richard Reid Fliehr was the youngest of Ric Flair’s four children. He was born on February 26, 1988, and was the younger brother of David Flair and WWE superstar Charlotte Flair. He was also an aspiring wrestler who wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father, who is now a two-time WWE Hall of Famer.
However, fate had other plans, as Reid struggled with drug addiction his entire life and would constantly get into trouble because of his issues. In the later interviews, WWE legend Triple H revealed that Reid wanted to sign a WWE developmental contract multiple times. However, he faced rejection because he failed the drug tests every time.
Unfortunately, in March 2013, Reid was found dead in a hotel room owing to a heroin overdose. His father, Ric Flair, later felt helpless, saying that he should have addressed his son’s problems. Reid passed away at the young age of 25, while he had his whole wrestling career ahead of him.
