Rob Van Dam was one of the best wrestlers in the WWE and always put his body on the line to entertain the crowds. The crowd was always in awe of his agility and acrobatic skills. Rob Van Dam is regarded as one of the best babyfaces in the wrestling industry, and is one of the few wrestlers who has never turned heel in their WWE career. Van Dam had a decent WWE career and even won the WWE Championship once at the ECW One Night Stand in 2006, where he cashed his MITB contract on John Cena to win the match.

Rob Van Dam didn’t hold on to the Championship for very long and lost it after 22 days to Edge on RAW in a triple threat match, which also involved Cena. Many were of the opinion that the high flying wrestler should have got a decent run with the championship but it’s a good thing that he at least won it in the first place after fighting for the World Championship for a long time. Van Dam had fought for the World Heavyweight Championship numerous times in his career, and also had a feud with Triple H for it.

Out of his many bouts for the World Championship, Rob Van Dam also fought in the first ever Elimination Chamber match for World Heavyweight Championship at the Survivor series 2002, which involved Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Kane, Booker T and Chris Jericho but he failed to win the match. The Match was won by Shawn Michaels and that was his first and only reign as a World Heavyweight Champion.

During a recent interview with Rene Dupree, Rob Van Dam spoke about the Elimination Chamber match. Van Dam discussed how he mistimed the frog splash from the top of one of the pods, injuring Triple H’s throat. Rob Van Dam readily admitted that the bungled frog splash during the event was his responsibility.

“It wasn’t my idea and I wasn’t comfortable, but I believed in myself enough to think it’s just gonna work out, I’ll be able to pull it off. That was a mistake on my part. I didn’t know how to judge how far to jump out because the cage wasn’t gonna give me any bounce, and is the extra height gonna make a difference in my arc? It was my fault and I f****d up.”

According to reports, Van Dam’s time as a WWE Champion was cut short by his run-ins with the police. He and his teammate wrestler Sabu were both charged with drug possession, which caused him to lose the Championship to Edge on RAW only 30 days after earning it.
