Roman Reigns is all set to face Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship tomorrow at the Royal Rumble event. As there is little to no doubt he will come out as the victor, the fans are looking forward to his WrestleMania match. A name that has been floating around for the prospect is former EVP in AEW, Cody Rhodes. Speaking about the American Nightmare’s return at the Royal Rumble match, the Tribal Chief had words of praise for his likely WrestleMania opponent.
Roman Reigns recently made an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” While talking about the possible Rumble winners, the Undisputed Champion threw the names of Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes into the mix. Talking about the latter, Reigns praised his performance in the Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins in June.
Roman Reigns said, “[Cody Rhodes] was super white hot. If you go back to, I believe there was a Hell In A Cell match with Seth Rollins. His pectoral muscle is completely torn. Like, in half. So, if you go back and look, it’s completely black, a giant bruise covering this guy. A fourth of his body is completely broken. And he goes out there and he puts on a 40-minute performance and completely wins over the entire fanbase. So, lots of guts, lots of courage in him. He’s going to be coming back soon, too.”

Will Cody Rhodes face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39?
The American Nightmare is not only returning in the Royal Rumble match, but he is the current odds-on favorite to win the whole thing. As things stand, his opponent will most certainly be the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. The Tribal Chief is nearing 900 days as the champion, and there is little to no threat to his reign on the road to WrestleMania.
Cody Rhodes returned to WWE last year and made it clear that he wanted to win the WWE Championship, laying the groundwork for Rhodes vs. Reigns. However, another feud that has been shelved for even longer is Reigns vs. The Rock, and as the Royal Rumble is around the corner, there couldn’t be a much better time for Dwayne Johnson to return to the ring.
Another name that can spoil the dreams of Cody Rhodes is Sami Zayn. In Cody’s absence, the former NXT champion has risen to top-level status. The WWE Universe is so behind Zayn that some are worried that if he doesn’t win, the eventual winner might get the same treatment as Batista in 2014. Whether it will be Zayn, Cody, or The Rock, the storyline potential is immense with all three of them. The fans will be on the edge of their seats tomorrow, witnessing such an exciting Royal Rumble match.
