Following WrestleMania XL, he mourned. That’s how Roman Reigns broke the ice for the first time since dropping his Undisputed WWE Universal title to Cody Rhodes on Sunday. Wondering when he’s going to show up next? As of now, Reigns is slated to be on SmackDown, a night before SummerSlam this year. That could mean he might compete at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Yesterday, he posted a 12-second clip of him working out on a treadmill. Interestingly, he said it’s day 1. For now, it seems like Roman Reigns is back to the drawing board. His 1316-day run at the top might be over. But he has started to claw his way back to the fold once again. It’s unclear at this point whether The Tribal Chief will return to WWE programming before August or not.
Meanwhile, his cousin, The Rock, has also embarked on his filming commitments, following a segment with Cody Rhodes on Raw after WrestleMania XL. Speaking of this week’s Raw, The Big Dog finally got his flowers, not only from The American Nightmare but also from the WWE Universe. After Rhodes acknowledged Reigns as the most important Superstar of this era, “Thank you, Roman” chants rang out.
Not to mention that it was the same arena where Roman was booed out of back in 2015 when he won the men’s Royal Rumble match. The Samoan has come a long way. Donning a family above all modus operandi, the 38-year-old reigned atop his peers for almost 4 years. He met his nadir on the day when his late brother Rosey was born. How poetic?
Roman Reigns’ past demons bugged him at WrestleMania XL
Some might say that Cody Rhodes’ rigor, coupled with the backing of John Cena and The Undertaker, took down Roman Reigns. It might hold true to an extent. However, if it weren’t for Cody’s proverbial shield, Seth Rollins, the former wouldn’t have conquered the Bloodline supremo.
When Shield’s music hit Lincoln Financial Field at WrestleMania, The Rock was in the ring. Rollins was measuring him from behind when Reigns nailed him with a Superman punch. Just then, Roman saw Seth begging for life. The Head of the Table picked up a steel chair, and he had a choice to make.
Either he could’ve made quick work of Cody or wiped The Architect off for good. Roman chose the latter. And he smacked Seth’s back exactly the same way Rollins did back in 2014 when he broke up The Shield. Roman could not let his past go, and it eventually cost him.
