The reputed Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) released an annual list ranking the top 500 professional wrestlers last afternoon. And to no one’s surprise, Seth Rollins took the top spot. That was such a fair judgment based on the work The Visionary has been putting in for the last few years. After claiming the mountaintop of PWI’s 500, Rollins found more delight in the fact that Roman Reigns and Jon Moxley were the ones to follow him.
In 2022, The Tribal Chief bagged the first position and he was the runner-up the previous year. In an interesting stat, Seth Rollins is now tied with John Cena for topping the PWI’s list on three different occasions. Needless to say, The Visionary would’ve been over the moon as soon as he came across the rankings. Also, with Reigns and Moxley occupying the 2nd and 3rd spots, respectively, a virtual Shield reunion was already there.
As a result, Seth Rollins simply posted one of his older fist bumps with Reigns and Mox from their days as The Shield. He didn’t write anything, as the picture was worthy enough to speak for itself. The wrestling fans are as satisfied as ever after an extremely long time. Rollins has been harnessing his abilities way beyond their satisfiable limits. However, that’s the mindset that sets him apart from the rest of the bunch.
Intercontinental Champion Gunther ranked fourth, joined by El Hijo del Vikingo, AEW Champion MJF, and NJPW prospect Kazuchika Okada in the top 7. Orange Cassidy and Josh Alexander followed in 8th and 9th, with Cody Rhodes just making the top 10.
Fans incensed with Seth Rollins’ last year’s ranking in PWI’s 500 list
As mentioned in the beginning, Roman Reigns topped last year’s PWI 500. However, that didn’t cause much stir, as the fans were baffled by the placement of this year’s table topper. For those who aren’t aware, Seth Rollins was 17th in 2022 rankings by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
The online fan outrage was palpable. However, that rallied Rollins’ momentum, and fans got even more aligned with The Visionary. Rollins is someone who doesn’t care much about these variables. He even bashed Dave Meltzer’s match rating system during an episode of Impaulsive with Logan Paul.
At the moment, he’s in a highly personal rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura on RAW. The Japanese wrestler has been hellbent on exploiting Rollins’ back issues. They will collide at Fastlane next month with The Revolutionary defending his title against The Artist.
