“Oh my goodness, what’s going on?,” WWE HOF’er recalls the time he was unaware of his popularity
The WWE superstars have always inspired generations of fans. WWE Legend Shawn Michaels recounts one such incident in which he was unaware of his influential popularity.

Shawn Michaels has been one of the most iconic names in WWE history. He has given countless moments to wrestling fans around the world. Moreover, he has been an inspiration to many fans of the younger generation. Many talents begin their careers aspiring to be like him. The WWE HOF revealed that he was unaware of how much influence he had on the WWE Universe.
In an interview on “Monsters of the Morning,” HBK said that it took him quite a long time to realize that he inspired millions of fans. He said that throughout his career he was never aware of the impact he created on the lives of people. Furthermore, the WWE HOF’er said he once traveled to Africa for a hunting show. As he reached the airport, he saw many people gathering there to meet and greet him. It was then that he realized how big of a deal he is for the fans. “After I retired, that’s maybe the first time you start going out on appearances, […] we come to this very small airport, and literally all of a sudden, every person in the airport is just coming towards us and we’re all like, ‘Oh my goodness, what’s going on?” Michaels explained.
Shawn Michaels has been a part of many incredible moments in WWE. He was a part of one of the most legendary factions, “D-Generation X” alongside Triple H and others. However, HBK is currently the company’s Senior VP of Talent Development Creative. In addition to that, he assumes creative control of the NXT brand. He bears the responsibility of developing NXT talent.
Throughout his career, he has inspired generations of fans. He said that he runs into many people who tell him how he has changed their lives. HBK also added that he felt it kind of weird when people saw him as a heroic figure. It took time, but Michaels finally realized that the WWE superstars are not just wrestlers to the fans; they are much more than that.

Shawn Michaels’ role in NXT
The WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels became a trainer at the WWE Performance Center in 2016. He looked after the younger talents and trained them along with Terry Taylor. In September 2021, he presided over the NXT brand when Triple H stepped away after facing a cardiac arrest. Since then, HBK has been looking after the creative control of the yellow brand. He is currently NXT’s senior vice president of talent development and creative.
The WWE Universe has shown love for The Heartbreak Kid throughout his career. The fans get to the edge of their seats whenever he makes an appearance on the main roster. Shawn Michaels has left a lasting legacy in this industry that future generations will cherish and follow in his footsteps.
