Former WWE Champion has been seemingly teased as Edge’s future opponent
Looking back at their first meeting more than a decade ago, Edge and Sheamus got into a Twitter battle and fired shots at each other.

Edge has been very much active on Twitter since his return to WWE last Saturday. While it was mostly liking the fans’ tweets and showing his gratitude, he recently was part of a Twitter banter with the fellow WWE superstar. It was Sheamus who started it all by taking shots at the Rated R Superstar, and it has led to a series of tweets since then.
WWE recently shared a moment from 2010, when Edge and Sheamus met for the first time. Quoting the tweet, Sheamus fired the first shot and tweeted, “.. and here i am about to surpass this gingerist pretend viking. #ultimategrandslamchampion.” In response, the Ultimate Opportunist wasn’t the one to hold back and directly challenged the Celtic Warrior to a match. He tweeted, “Well right now I’m alone in The Hall of Won It All. I get lonely. Win that IC and we can have a chat Ronnie, whoops, Sheamo. Bout time we have a good old fashioned, grizzled 1 on 1 match.”
Sheamus delivered the final blow and made fun of Edge’s age. “Got one last banger in ya grandad? Don’t reach for the pipe & slippers just yet.. #therecanbeonlyone.” While all this seems like a good sport, if it sets up a future match between the two, there’s nothing like it. While it is true that Edge and Sheamus came face-to-face in 2010, they have never actually met in a one-on-one competition. Seeing as both superstars are ready, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before they finally meet in the squared circle.

What are the WrestleMania plans for Edge?
Despite the Rated R superstar teasing a match against Sheamus, it seems he has other plans on the road to WrestleMania. As it is evident from his Royal Rumble return, Edge will likely continue his feud with Judgment Day. Since Edge and Beth Phoenix both returned last Saturday, it is rumored that they might have a mixed tag match against Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley. This would most likely happen at Elimination Chamber as Ripley is facing Charlotte at WrestleMania.
The feud between The Judgment Day and Edge could end at WWE’s biggest show of the year. Previously there were some rumors that Edge might face Finn Balor in a Hell in a Cell match at Royal Rumble. These plans obviously never came to fruition, but they could still happen at this year’s WrestleMania. If the Extreme Rules rematch takes place, fans can expect all kinds of shenanigans involving Judgment Day.
