WWE Fastlane is exactly a week away, and the match card has started to shape up. Last night on SmackDown, The Street Profits impressed Bobby Lashley after demolishing the duo of Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar after their match. After Rey retained the US title against his LWO brother cum protégé, they were about to shake hands. But before that, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins pulled Escobar’s leg out to the ringside area.
That followed a vicious beatdown as The Almighty made his way out and was all laughs. Earlier on, Lashley told The Street Profits to prove themselves if they wanted to continue their alliance with the former CEO of The Hurt Business. And guess what? The Profits did not disappoint. After that, a banged-up Rey Mysterio challenged the trio of Lashley, Ford, and Dawkins to a match. And now it’s been made official.
Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, and a yet-to-be-decided partner will take on Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits at Fastlane. The 6-man tag team match was announced on SmackDown Lowdown, and the fans are pumped up. Although the LWO has Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro as options, it might be Dragon Lee, after all, who joins them as the third member.
Last night on SmackDown, Lee was ringside and was stopped by security when he tried to save Escobar and Mysterio. Next week, the NXT luchador is set to take on Austin Theory following their verbal spat on SmackDown. For sure, Lee has gotten a lot of exposure over the previous week. He had an awe-inspiring battle with Dominik Mysterio on Raw and is on track for yet another banger against Theory on the blue brand now.
Is LA Knight finally getting to the main event at Fastlane?
In what would be John Cena‘s first match since WrestleMania 39, he’s got LA Knight by his side to take on the duo of Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. Last night on SmackDown, when Cena was once again in deep waters, The Megastar marked his return to a nuclear crowd reaction.
He ran down that aisle, entered the ring, and made quick work of Solo and Jimmy. The packed house in Sacramento exploded when he took that contract and signed it. That being said, Knight is on course to mainevent his first premium live event in WWE.
Unless some major changes happen, the tag team showdown is likely to close the night at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Although Seth Rollins’ Last Man Standing match against Shinsuke Nakamura is a strong contender for that spot, there’s no way WWE would not book John Cena in the main event alongside LA Knight. What a huge night it’s going to be for the former Eli Drake!
