Midway through this week, Cody Rhodes finally made the right decision. At the Las Vegas press conference, he chose Roman Reigns as his WrestleMania opponent. However, a few days ago on SmackDown, Cody’s story was virtually sabotaged when he said he wouldn’t fight The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania. And just like the fans, WWE HOF’er The Undertaker‘s heart sank.

Recently, Taker went live on his ‘Six Feet Under‘ podcast. Right there, he elucidated how excited he was to watch Cody’s decision on last week’s SmackDown. But the WWE legend said his heart sank into his stomach after witnessing Rhodes pushing his own goalpost away. The Dead Man affirmed that he knew what was going to happen, alluding to The Rock’s arrival.

Even though Taker was upset, he did give flowers to the financial aspect of having Roman Reigns pit against his Hollywood cousin at WrestleMania. Everybody knows that the pro wrestling world has turned upside down since last Friday.

I want[ed] to hear Cody's promo. It was great, so good & I was so invested. When he said ‘…just not at #WrestleMania’ my freaking heart just sunk into my stomach because I knew in that moment what was about to happen. Believe me, money-wise, having The Rock at ‘Mania, brother, come on, against Roman who’s been Champion for what, 13 years now? Samoan vs Samoan. It's huge & it is what it is.

The groundswell in Cody’s support eventually led to the fans turning on The Great One. And this past Thursday, at the T-Mobile Arena, Dwayne Johnson wholly leaned into the negative reaction his faceoff with Reigns had been getting. Calling out all the Cody crybabies, Johnson said that it doesn’t matter what they think.

He then proceeded to link up with Roman and thought their dream showdown was bound by blood. Rhodes appeared, and he jettisoned off his frustration. However, The American Nightmare ended up getting slapped in the face by The Rock.

How Cody Rhodes will respond to The Rock’s globally heard slap?

This week on SmackDown, there were rumors of Cody Rhodes appearing on the show to respond to The Rock’s actions at the presser.

However, Cody wasn’t booked for the show. He wrestled Solo Sikoa in a dark match that he won. But this Monday on Raw, The Prodigal Son will be there in Lexington. He’s expected to unleash the fury he’s been carrying since Thursday.

It appears like he may have gotten in The Rock’s way now that he’s sided with Roman Reigns. It will be interesting to see how things unfold in the upcoming days. Speaking of the Samoan stalwarts, The Rock and Roman Reigns, they’ll be appearing live on SmackDown next week.
