CM Punk wrestled his last WrestleMania match in 2013 when he went toe-to-toe with The Undertaker. At this time, the Deadman was still undefeated at the Show of Shows and was putting on classics every year. However, there were some rumours surrounding the match, which the WWE Hall of Famer recently addressed himself.
Talking with Alex McCarthy of Inside the Ropes, The Undertaker reflected on his 2013 match with CM Punk. According to him, he was “very proud” of that match and gave Punk his credit. In the interview, The Phenom also talked about his supposed “beef” with the Best in the World. Undertaker said, “He was great to work with […] I had no beef with Punk, he was always business with me, hopefully I was with him.”
The WWE legend even mentioned Vince McMahon, who taught him to do “Whatever’s best for business.” While reiterating his point, The Undertaker shot down the online reports and rumors saying, “Supposedly I squashed his push and all of this but anybody who knows me – even if I didn’t like somebody, and I don’t dislike punk, that’s another rumor that I have disdain for him, I don’t, he was good with me and that’s all that matters – business is business, whatever’s best for business.”
CM Punk left WWE in 2014 after being frustrated with his position in the company. The former WWE Champion criminally never got to main event a WrestleMania, which was one of the major reasons for his walkout. The Best in the World would not return to the squared circle for seven years, ultimately making his debut in AEW.

CM Punk “had a hard time” getting excited against The Undertaker

Earlier this month, Mick Foley also talked about The Undertaker vs. CM Punk match from WrestleMania 29 on his podcast. The Hardcore legend revealed that he was very close with Punk at the time. Furthermore, Foley said, “Punk was having a hard time getting excited for that match with The Undertaker because it was not the main event. I told him, I said, ‘Phil, you decide what the main event is. The fans decide.’“
Since then, Punk has also seemed to come around to Foley’s idea of the “main event.” Now even he admits that his match with The Undertaker was the real main event of the show. CM Punk has not been seen since the infamous brawl after the AEW All-Out 2022. There is still no clarification on whether the former AEW World Champion will return to the company or be released from his contract.
