Triple H comments on the WrestleMania 39 status of The Rock following Royal Rumble
Following the absence of The Rock from the Royal Rumble, Triple H addressed his WrestleMania status in the post-Royal Rumble press conference and also hinted at his possible appearance.
Triple H and The Rock
Rumors about The Rock’s return to the Royal Rumble had been circulating for months. Many reports suggested that The People’s Champion could make a surprise return at the Royal Rumble PLE. Rumors also suggested that he could compete in and win the men’s Rumble match to challenge Roman at WrestleMania. However, none of this happened, as fans didn’t get to see The Rock appear on the show.
In a press conference held after the Royal Rumble, Triple H was asked about The Rock not showing up. Rock’s status for WrestleMania 39 was also discussed by Triple H. He addressed the speculations about The Rock, stating, “If he could be here for this WrestleMania… he would turn over every stone… I just don’t think it’s in the cards.” Triple H also let the speculations and rumors continue, saying, “But then again, you don’t know. I don’t know.”
Fans had high expectations of Rock’s return in the men’s Rumble match and of him winning. When that didn’t happen, fans didn’t lose hope and expected him to come face-to-face with Roman Reigns after the main event. Fans were hoping for Rock to come out and challenge The Tribal Chief for their rumored WrestleMania match. However, neither of these was the case, as fans were left disappointed because The Great One did not make an appearance on the show.

Fans could see The Rock appear at WrestleMania
Considering Triple H’s statement, he left the door open for a possible appearance by The Rock at WrestleMania. Since WrestleMania is in Hollywood this year, fans can expect to see Rock there. If he will be having a match against his cousin Roman Reigns at the Show of Shows, he may appear on WWE TV beforehand. As WWE will need time for the build-up of the mega match. If The Rock wants to wrestle at the show of shows, his opponent could only be the Undisputed Universal Champion. The plot is also perfect for an interesting storyline, as The Rock is also a member of The Bloodline.
However, if the match is unlikely to happen, The Great One may also appear for a non-wrestling segment. The Rock has previously appeared on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but only in non-wrestling segments. We have seen The Rock appear in notable segments at WrestleMania 30, 31, and 32 as well. The Great One last appeared at WrestleMania 32, where he also had a memorable moment with John Cena.
The Rock had his last WWE match back in 2016 at WrestleMania 32, where he pinned Eric Rowan in six seconds, setting a record. Since then, he has not been involved in any storylines or matches due to his busy schedule. Coming back to Triple H’s comments on his status for this year’s WrestleMania, WWE has not completely denied the possibility of The Rock making an appearance, and fans could still expect to see him.
