D-Generation X, better known as DX is one of the most acclaimed factions of WWE of all time. The faction was led majorly by Triple H and Shawn Michaels along with Chyna who formed one of the most notorious factions of all time.
DX got popular for its explicit and edgy segments during the Attitude Era, and one of its founding members has now revealed that the segments had almost got the DX fired and could’ve even got WWE Cancelled.
Triple H reveals how DX nearly got WWE Cancelled on USA Network
The current Creative Head of the company recently opened up in an interview and spoke about the incident in detail. In an interview with the Sports Bible, Triple H said that the USA network didn’t like the graphic and explicit presentation of the faction and had sent them a letter regarding curbing the explicit content in their segments especially mentioning the words which they need to crack down on.
The Game described the situation in the interview and said- “USA [Network] had been on us for weeks. These guys cannot say that stuff, they cannot do those gestures, they have to stop it.”
He further described that WWE programming could have been removed from the USA Network and then even said that he was then threatened by Vince McMahon himself over the crazy fanatics. He then said though Vince gave them a warning it never felt like he would do more than threaten them.
He further described that Vince bought them the letter from the USA Network and said that if the demands are not met diligently they would not be able to AIR on the USA Network anymore.
Triple H and Shawn Michaels would then go on to read out the letter in one of the most humorous segments in WWE history. In the segment, Triple H would describe all words they’re not allowed to use on TV, and what they can use in a specific time frame.
The letter barred them from using any kind of s*xual or racial slurs during their segments. He even proceeded to say in the segment that there will be “fewer d*ck references” visually as well. Turning an actual warning letter into a segment was a gamble played by The Game himself, but to everyone’s relief, the gamble played well.
Triple H revealed that they received a letter the next night which said- “Congratulations on the rating last night. What DX did with our letter was hilarious. Congratulations on the success, here’s to many more years.”
This ultimately sealed the faction of one of the most successful factions in WWE history. From time to time DX has reunited on various occasions and This Monday Night RAW the faction will once again reunite as well. We will have to wait and watch what the D-Generation X has in store for us.
