Triple H has taken over the creative control of WWE last year after the retirement of Vince McMahon. He has been responsible for major decisions about storylines. According to recent reports, the idea of Women’s Tag Team Title unification match on SmackDown was not his decision. The reports stated that it is the call of an even bigger official of the company who see the idea as workable as part of his vision.

The latest episode of SmackDown saw NXT Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre confront Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. Fyre and Dawn debuted on the Blue Brand following the WWE Draft 2023. Both teams brawled on SmackDown this week to showcase their dominance over the others. However, the NXT Tag Team Champions had the last laugh.

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler stated that they are hungry for opponents as well as more titles. They felt that the tag team division wasn’t big enough for two titles. As a result, the former UFC stars challenged Fyre and Dawn to a tag team title unification match. To everyone’s surprise, the latter accepted it. WWE has made the matchup official and has scheduled it for an episode of SmackDown, two weeks from now.

The reports from BWE suggested that the idea for this unification match was put forth by WWE CEO Nick Khan. Khan sees NXT as the third brand and not a developmental brand. He insists on merging the storylines of all three brands to profit the business while getting more ratings and money. This is the reason why fans have been seeing many main roster superstars go to NXT in recent times.

The Women’s Tag Team Unification match is set to take place in two weeks on SmackDown. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler will face off against Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn in a winner-take-all bout. The idea for this matchup is the tag team division’s lesser proximity and on the other hand, the chances of more title opportunities.

Shayna Baszler looks confident, as she posted a picture on Instagram yesterday, sending a message to the WWE Universe. The picture showed Ronda and Shayna’s title win on Raw with an assertive caption, stating their team as “Alchemists”. She elaborated on it with the caption, “All that we touch is gold.”

Ronda and Baszler won the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles on the May 29 episode of Raw. The NXT Tag Team Champions Alba and Isla got their NXT call-up during WWE Draft 2023. While the team has just made its way onto SmackDown, they have gotten involved in a major bout for title unification.
