It’s been nine months since Big E has been out of action. The former WWE Champion was injured during a match against Sheamus and Ridge Holland. Holland delivered Big E a belly-to-belly suplex, which caused him to land on his head.

He then shared on his social media account that he had broken his neck, with his C1 and C6 vertebrae fractured. The 36-year-old stated that he wouldn’t require surgery. Over the months, he has spoken about his comeback, saying that he is unsure if he will ever wrestle again.

Before his injury, Big E lost the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar in January at Day 1 PLE. He held the championship for 110 days before losing at the event. He returned to being a tag-team specialist after losing the championship. Who knows, he might have fought for the company’s secondary championships if the injury hadn’t occurred.

The New Day member has been a Triple Crown Champion but not a Grand Slam Champion, so he has a lot to achieve in the WWE. During a recent interview with Urban Times, the 36-year-old provided an update about his in-ring return. He said that he has a couple of scans to do in March of 2023, which will decide the fate of his wrestling career. Big E emphasized that he must be prudent when considering the future of his wrestling career.

“I have to get some more scans at the one-year mark in March, and then we’ll see how everything’s looking, but we’ll see from there, Yeah, yeah [excited to return], my C1 is broken in two spots, so I obviously would be very smart about that. I was very fortunate, so I just want to make sure I’m making the best decision for myself, so we’ll see in March.”

Thankfully, before the injury, Big E became the WWE Champion, which was his childhood dream. He has had a successful WWE career, winning the WWE Championship once and defending it several times until Day 1 PLE. The 36-year-old has also been a two-time Intercontinental Champion and a six-time WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion. He has held the RAW Tag Team Championship twice and was also an NXT Champion once.

Back in July of this year, Big E spoke about his feelings about not wrestling again. During an interview with TMZ Sports, he stated that he is content with his life and will accept whatever the future brings. The former WWE Champion said that he is grateful not to be in a wheelchair. He said that he couldn’t be mourning his current situation in life.

“Yeah, I think so. Honestly, my philosophy as a human being is learning to be content with whatever life brings you…… If I spend hours or days or weeks kind of mourning where I’m at in life, and not being what I wanted to be, that doesn’t serve me.”

The New Day member has never been a United States Champion. Fans want to see Big E return to the ring and become a grand slam champion. With many wrestlers returning from career-threatening injuries, fans are hoping that the 36-year-old returns to the company as well.
