The 16-time WWE World Champion retired from WWE in 2010 and never actually wrestled in the company again. However, he did not quit wrestling overall but kept himself known to the wrestling world through various promotions. But as of now, the Nature Boy has officially wrestled the last match of his career under Jim Crockett Promotions. July 31, 2023, completes one year of this match, where he even faked a heart attack to get the upper hand on Jay Lethal.
His retirement happened at an event named ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ on July 31, 2022, in Nashville. The match card had a total of nine matches, while the main event had Flair and Andrade El Idolo taking on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. The match was won by Ric and Andrade’s team, but the former used heel tactics to get the upper hand. When Flair was at ringside, he faked a heart attack for a few seconds to gain sympathy from the referee and eventually the opportunity to attack Lethal.
A clip of this incident was shared on Twitter by a fan account who remembered the anniversary of this match. The Undertaker, Mick Foley, and Bret Hart, along with Flair’s daughter Megan Fliehr, were sitting in the first row to witness the match. The heart attack moment was especially faked by Flair near them to intensify the moment and let his close ones feel that it was real.
Andrade, being the son-in-law of Ric Flair, had his back through the match and came out successful to secure a victory with him. The finish of this match saw a bloody Ric tie Jeff into a figure-four leglock and have his shoulders on the mat to get him pinned. After the match, he celebrated his win with his WWE colleagues and family. You can watch the video here.

Ric Flair recently showered high praise on The Rock for being very respectful toward him

On July 29, Ric Flair took to Twitter to share a clip of a match with The Rock. The match between The Nature Boy and The People’s Champ happened on the main event of Raw. Although the match was won by The Rock, a gesture of respect was followed by their handshake.
To recall this, Flair’s tweet stated that he loves The Rock while adding that he always treated him with respect. He then added his signature catchphrase, WOOOOO! to the message and showed his utmost respect to The Great One. Also, the shared clip by Flair showed the closing two minutes of their match.
After the match ended, Rocky shook hands and walked down the ramp to the backstage area. Flair remained in the ring to make an announcement, but his plan was foiled by the interference of Chris Jericho. The Lionheart attacked The Nature Boy from behind with a chair shot to his head and dropped him down. With this tweet, Ric Flair made the WWE Universe aware of the mutually respectful relationship he has with Dwayne Johnson.
