A few years ago, nobody could have conceived the slightest possibility of CM Punk ever returning to WWE. The superstar burned the bridge with the company to an irreparable extent. However, the proverb “time heals all wounds” seems about right. Punk made his astounding return to WWE last Saturday at Survivor Series. His homecoming ignited speculation about whether AJ Lee may follow in her husband’s footsteps.
The shocking return of the Straight Edge Superstar has fans talking about a potential AJ Lee return in a big way. Addressing the speculation, PW Insiders have uncovered some scoops regarding Lee’s possible comeback to the company. According to the report, there has been no discussion of the 36-year-old coming back to WWE.
However, the company hasn’t ruled out a potential cameo appearance. Given that CM Punk is again a WWE superstar, fans can expect the Geek Goddess to make a surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble. Moreover, Lee hasn’t competed in a squared circle in over eight years since announcing her retirement in 2015.
A couple of months after her retirement, AJ revealed that she decided to hang up the boots due to a career-threatening neck injury. In 2021, the former Divas Champion, however, confirmed she had fully recovered and wouldn’t mind pulling up her wrestling boots. Only time will tell whether Triple H brings the former WWE star back to the company or not.
What has AJ Lee been doing since retiring from wrestling?
AJ Lee was a mainstay of WWE programming from 2012 until her retirement in 2015. The Diva was catapulted into major storylines along with top male superstars, including her husband, CM Punk. She eventually made her mark in the Divas division as well, winning the Divas title a record-setting three times. However, the former WWE Diva has completely decamped from the wrestling business following her retirement.
It raises the question of what the 36-year-old has been doing after hanging up her wrestling boots. After departing from the realm of wrestling, Lee ventured into writing. In 2015, she published a memoir called “Crazy is My Superpower,” delineating her childhood phase, mental health issues, and WWE career.
In 2019, she collaborated with her long-time best friend and actress, Aimee Garcia, to form a writing partnership. The duo has written two comic book stories for DC Comics. A year later, Garcia and Lee launched a production house called “Scrappy Heart Production.” The 36-year-old has also dabbled in acting. She most recently appeared in an episode of Heels Season 2. She is also roped in for the Kristen Stewart-starrer road trip film “Sacramento.”
