UPDATE: Huge report regarding initial ticket sales for WrestleMania 39 indicates fans turning up in mammoth numbers
WrestleMania is one of the biggest premium PPV’s in the sports entertainment industry. Since its inception in 1985, the event has achieved massive success and is one of the most anticipated wrestling PPVs of all time. Created by Vince McMahon, the first edition itself saw it breaking many records as over 1 million people had watched the show through television and about 19000 were present at the MSG, New York making it the most viewed wrestling PPV at that time.
Over the period of time, WrestleMania has gone to become better and bigger in every sense. While the event was a one night event previously, it is now held on 2 separate days making it a two-night PPV to double the excitement. WrestleMania 39 will mark the 39th anniversary of the event and is scheduled to be held on 1st and 2nd April, 2023 at Sofi Stadium in California.
WrestleMania 39 going strong with the initial sales, company might increase capacity
However this will be the first WrestleMania without Vince McMahon who had created the original event. But it seems like fans are already excited about the event as the latest details from WrestleTix reveal that WWE is planning to push the event to huge capacity. With an original capacity of 70,240 seats, the company is now planning to extend it to around 1 lakh to accommodate more and more people .
The reason is the huge surge in initial ticket sales for the flagship event. With a current setup of 50,532 for the first night, WrestleTix revealed that 48,732 tickets for the first night have already been distributed. While for the second night with a current setup of 50,532 tickets, 49,443 tickets have been distributed as well. This reveals the huge anticipation for the event as the pre-sales numbers are at an all time high.
Michael Cole had revealed this Friday on SmackDown that WrestleMania 39 witnessed the highest first day pre-sales. The reason for the fans’ excitement is the rumoured match card for the event. With matches like Roman Reigns vs Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey being rumoured for the superbowl of the sports entertainment, fans can’t keep their calm but to get the earliest access of the event.
Both the matches have been teased by the company as The Rock had recently hinted that he might have a match left in the squared ring and though Becky Lynch is currently out with an injury and Ronda Rousey is also suspended both are expected to return within time to reignite their rivalry.
