The teases, rumors, and speculations are piling up as the WrestleMania season gets closer. January 28th will mark the official start of the road to WrestleMania with the much-anticipated Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. Amidst all these rumors and excitement among fans, WWE has posted yet another tease for the return of the People’s Champion, The Rock.
WWE recently shared a clip from the match between Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler at a live event in Binghamton, New York. In the video, the fans can see Corbin attempting to do the people’s elbow before getting superkicked by Ziggler in the process. WWE accompanied the video with the caption, “@baroncorbinwwe pays homage to @therock heading into the #WWERaw 30th Anniversary, but @heelziggler had another plans! #WWEBinghamton.”
It was interesting to see The Rock and Raw’s 30th anniversary show getting a mention in the same post. It might lead fans to believe that the 10-time world champion might return sooner than Saturday’s Premium Live Event. This is not the first tease that WWE has done for the Rock’s return. Last week, WWE’s official YouTube account posted a video showing the final moments of the last 10 Royal Rumbles, which had The Great One on the thumbnail as the WWE champion.
The Rock’s last match in WWE was way back at WrestleMania 32. He had an impromptu match against Erick Rowan, whom he defeated in six seconds, creating the record for the shortest WrestleMania match ever. Though that was not his last appearance in the company. At SmackDown’s 20th anniversary show in 2019, The Rock returned to WWE to have a segment with “The Man” Becky Lynch, who has adopted his Rock Bottom as her own finisher, calling it the “Manhandle Slam.”
What are the plans for The Rock at WrestleMania?
It is now no mystery who the People’s Champion will face if he makes his electrifying return to WWE. It will be none other than the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. The match between the cousins has been rumored to happen for three years now. However, it’s very difficult to get Dwayne Johnson, one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, to sign on for three months for WrestleMania.
WWE has also scrapped “The Bloodline acknowledgment ceremony” at Raw’s 30th-anniversary show this week. Instead, the group will hold the “Tribal Court” for the Honorary Uce Sami Zayn. This change might indicate some new plans are in store for the Bloodline. Whether he returns on Raw or at the Royal Rumble, The Rock is sure to send shockwaves throughout the WWE Universe.
