In August 2020, WWE issued a new edict that banned its performers from using third-party platforms like Twitch and Cameo. According to reports, WWE wanted its performers to use its own platforms for activities like streaming and social media interactions. To ensure that they align with WWE’s brand and to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. But WWE diva Zelina Vega continued to stream on Twitch even after the ban, which resulted in her release from the company.

The decision was met with some pushback from WWE performers. They argued that they should be allowed to use third-party platforms to supplement their income and connect with fans. However, it appears that Vince McMahon‘s ban on third-party platform usage by its performers remains in place for now.

However, according to a report by Fightful Select, WWE has made an agreement with Twitch that will allow superstars to stream again. The report also stated that the WWE talents can stream on Twitch with ‘almost no restrictions’. Speaking of the revenue from streams, it will be split among three parties, with Superstars and Twitch earning more than WWE.

It was also reported that WWE has been in talks to lift the Twitch stream ban on superstars since April 2022, even before Triple H taking over the creative control. Apart from the controversial release of Zelina Vega, former NXT Women’s Champion, Mandy Rose was also fired in December 2022. She was reportedly released from WWE due to the explicit content she posted on her FanTime page.

With WWE possibly lifting the ban on superstars streaming on Twitch with almost no restrictions, fans might be wondering what no restriction actually means. It could mean that wrestlers using foul language and breaking the fourth wall is not a problem. This sounds questionable, but fans can be hopeful.

Fightful Select also suggested that WWE talents can stream on Twitch with people on other promotions. However, they will need clearance from the company in order to do that. Therefore, it would surely be interesting to see whether WWE actually allows superstars to stream on Twitch without any constraints.
