It is time for the biggest spectacle in professional wrestling of the year, WrestleMania. The match card looks great, and the build for most of the matches is nearly perfect. Meanwhile, night 1 of WrestleMania 39 was set to go down with amazing matches on hand. As fans approach the biggest event of the year, they might be keeping an eye on the most anticipated matches. Well, the biggest event of the year kicked off with John Cena vs. Austin Theory for the United States title.

Before the matches could go down, WrestleMania goes Hollywood kicked off with the host of Mania this year, The Miz. Moreover, the two-time WWE Grand Slam champion was joined by the world-famous rapper and WWE Hall of Famer, Snoop Dogg, to hype up the beginning of the event. Following a warm welcome by the great hosts, it was time for the matches.

As WWE announced earlier, the first match to kick off night 1 of WrestleMania 39 was John Cena vs. Austin Theory. The match was for the prestigious United States title as well. As Theory was set to defend his U.S. title in arguably the biggest match of his career, in front of 70,000+ in attendance, his confidence was at an all-time high.

The match seemed to be picking up the pace as Theory was getting the upper hand over Cena. However, the 16-time WWE champion turned things around and locked in the STF. The U.S. Champion tapped out, but the referee couldn’t see him as he had been knocked down moments earlier. Meanwhile, just when Cena thought he won, Theory took advantage of the referee being down and hit a low blow for a cheap victory over the legend.
