Big update on Carlito’s WWE status following reports of his signing with the company
Fans are eagerly waiting for the arrival of Carlito in WWE. Despite being signed with the company, he's yet to appear on TV.

At one point, Carlito was to make his WWE return on the July 7th edition of SmackDown. However, it didn’t happen, as several outlets cited the overrun of the Tribal Court segment as the reason. Since then, a couple of months have passed, yet there’s been no sign of The Caribbean Cool on WWE programming.
Now, an update has emerged on Carlito’s ongoing status with the company. Per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the 44-year-old is indeed signed to WWE. Also, the Puerto Rican star had a start date on his plate that didn’t come to fruition. As of now, the creative team has no plans for how they’ll reintroduce Carlito into their weekly episodic television.
WWE would never want to lose him the same way it did with Eric Young. However, the latter’s decision to leave was based on Vince McMahon getting back in charge. Whether that happens with the former US champion remains is unclear. Back in May, at Backlash, Carlito made a surprise cameo.
He came to the aid of the LWO, fending off The Judgment Day, during Damian Priest vs. Bad Bunny. The pop Carlito received in Puerto Rico that night was something special. Shortly after the event, the 44-year-old canceled his then-upcoming indie dates as he told the promoters he had signed with WWE.
Well, right now, it’s just a matter of how long until WWE decides to put Carlito on television. Needless to say, the promotion needs to figure out something for the veteran from San Juan very soon.

What could be possibly done with Carlito?
Well, WWE has a brilliant opportunity to put Carlito in the LWO on SmackDown. The story writes for itself, and his close ties with Rey Mysterio could help. Since the legendary luchador reincarnated the Latino World Order, the stable has been booming under his learning tree. The merchandise sales have been an embodiment of their growing popularity among the WWE Universe.
Carlito would be a great addition to the SmackDown roster, especially in the absence of Roman Reigns. Moreover, the Caribbean Cool’s return automatically brings back that nostalgia factor that could drive a lot of old fans back to WWE. On a personal level, the Puerto Rican wrestler would be hoping that the creative team doesn’t keep him away from wrestling for long.
