This week’s WWE Raw held a couple of triple-threat qualifying matches for the Elimination Chamber. The first of the night saw Asuka, Bayley, and Nattie duke it out. ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ sealed the deal by making ‘The Role Model’ tap out to the Asuka Lock.

It helped her qualify for her third Elimination Chamber match, and she will be looking to win it for the second time, having previously done so in 2023. Asuka has now joined a stacked field of women, including Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton, and Alexa Bliss, with a couple more spots left to be filled.

On the men’s side of things, Je’Von Evans went to work against Dominik Mysterio and Gunther. The 21-year-old Evans main-evented Raw in a stunning feat. Not only was he in the last match of the night in Memphis, but ‘The Young OG’ eventually emerged victorious.

Evans pinned Mysterio after landing a picture-perfect OG Cutter on the Intercontinental Champion. Gunther, who inflicted a beating of good measure on both of his combatants, got attacked at ringside by Dragon Lee. The latter got his lick back on ‘The Ring General’ for what happened on Raw a couple of weeks ago. Lee was obliterated by the Austrian for not condoning any AJ Styles slander.

That mid-match ambush from Styles’ former tag team partner kept Gunther from qualifying for the Elimination Chamber match, which, in turn, means his world title aspirations at WrestleMania 42 are doomed.

Meanwhile, Je’Von Evans is headed to the United Center on February 28 and will partake in a match concept that is older than him. Evans has joined the likes of Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and LA Knight, with two more men yet to qualify.

CM Punk and Finn Balor had an intense segment on WWE Raw

Just days ahead of their showdown at the Elimination Chamber for the world title, CM Punk and Finn Balor had an in-ring confrontation on Raw this week. ‘The Prince’ interrupted the champ early into his promo. What’s worth noting is that Balor appears to have permanently brought back his original entrance theme song in place of the Judgment Day version he’d been using for quite a while.

Balor was accompanied by Dominik Mysterio and the returning JD McDonagh on his way to the ring. ‘The Irish Captor’ listed why he’s the real best in the world.

It’s because he’s fought the best catch wrestlers in Europe, the best luchadores in Mexico, and the best dojos in Japan. Balor also reminded Punk that he beat Roman Reigns fair and square on his first night as the official member of the Raw roster in 2016.

‘The Best in the World’ said he knew what Balor was and stressed that the 44-year-old took on the world’s best all by himself. It’s also why the former AEW star agreed to bestow a title shot on Balor in Belfast a few weeks ago. Punk affirmed that Balor didn’t have the Judgment Day back then and that the faction has been an anchor around his neck for a very long time.

‘The Second City Saint’ mocked The Prince’s running mates by calling Mysterio an idiot who carries around a couple of titles without having to defend them. Punk quipped that McDonagh has to be helped to get in the ring just because his head is too big.

‘The Cookie Master’ also told Balor that someone as skilled as the inaugural Universal Champion should’ve brought them up to his level, but they’ve dragged him down to theirs instead.

Punk eventually turned his back on the Judgment Day members and asked them to ambush him. ‘The Red-Headed Stepchild’ stated that he knew he was the best in the world, and he didn’t need anyone’s help to prove it. Punk said that maybe Balor needed some. ‘The Prince’ was constantly holding McDonagh and Mysterio back from attacking Punk.

The Chicago-born wrestler threw the mic at his challenger before exiting. Later, in a backstage segment, Balor told McDonagh he wanted to prove to everyone that he could do this alone and asked his buddies not to interfere. The argument between the Irish compatriots ended with ‘Dirty Dom’ being completely ignored by the two.
