WWE has begun their plan to make Roman Reigns the company’s face. Even after winning the Royal Rumble in 2015 and being backed by The Rock at the same event, the Big Dog continued to receive unfavourable feedback from the audience. Roman got the opportunity to face Lesnar, who was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the moment, as the winner of the Royal Rumble. The build-up to the bout was so intense that Lesnar and Roman had an actual tug-of-war with the WWE Championship belt.

Lesnar exploded onto the scene with a bang, introducing everyone to the Suplex City! tagline. Even after two F5s, Reigns managed to stay alive. When Seth Rollins walked out with the briefcase as both men were exhausted, it was the greatest Money in the Bank Cash-in in WWE history. Seth Curb Stomped Roman Reigns and walked out as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

In 2016, in the Royal Rumble match, Roman Reigns was compelled to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship title. That year, Triple H won the Royal Rumble and, with it, the WWE Championship. Roman had to defeat Lesnar and Ambrose first in order to reclaim his championship.

To tame Lesnar, Reigns and Ambrose had to put him through the table twice. Despite this, he returned and placed Roman Reigns in the Kimura Lock. Ambrose assaulted Lesnar with a steel chair as he was on the brink of clinching the match. Because he was out of the match for so long, Reigns was able to pin Ambrose and eventually won the match.

It was the very next night to Wrestlemania when it was announced that Lesnar has signed another contract with WWE and he will fight Roman Reigns in a Steel Cage Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble show in Saudi Arabia.

The Beast Incarnate began the match exactly as he ended it four weeks ago at WrestleMania. He landed four German Suplexes and two F5s before Reigns landed three Superman Punches in a row. Paul Heyman smashed the cage door in Reigns’ face as he attempted to exit. More near falls and finishes followed, with Roman spearing Lesnar to send both of them through the steel cage. Lesnar was awarded the victory because his back touched the floor first.
