Can Alexa Bliss be the show-stealer at WWE Summerslam 2021?

WWE Summerslam 2021 is just round the corner and it is well on course to truly be the “Biggest Party of the Summer”. Despite being one of the “Big Four” PPVs of WWE, Summerslam has always been in the shadows of Wrestlemania.
But this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Showcase of Immortals was forced to be held in front of a limited audience, significantly bringing down the scale of the event. This led WWE to decide that Summerslam is going to be their biggest event of the year. Massive Superstars – John Cena, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, among others will be in action – across 10 matches.
One of the most surprising, as well as the last additions to the card was the match between Alexa Bliss and Eva Marie. Bliss is currently in a weird phase of her career, where her character has undertaken a supernatural gimmick, and seemingly moved away from the professional wrestling. But WWE Summerslam 2021 provides the perfect opportunity for WWE to start afresh with Alexa’s on-screen character.
The company has kept the fans excited for WWE Summerslam 2021 with innumerable surprises and swerves. Dropping Bliss’ supernatural gimmick, might be a welcome surprise and could even become the talking point of the event. In terms of storyline, it could be shown that Lily, who Bliss considered to be her friend – was the old Bliss all along!
Will the supernatural gimmick be dropped at WWE Summerslam 2021?
Alexa Bliss showed traits of turning to the supernatural gimmick for the first time at The Horror Shoe – Extreme Rules. She appeared during the cinematic match between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt. Bliss, as part of this storyline, was also attacked by The Fiend. Slowly and gradually, Bliss started going into trance and even began using Fiend’s finisher – Sister Abigail.
Finally, she ended up aligning herself with The Fiend, and was heavily involved in a storyline between Randy Orton – The Fiend. Even after The Fiend was burned, Bliss continued the feud with Orton. But a massive surprise was revealed when she turned on The Fiend at WWE Wrestlemania 37.
Eventually, The Fiend Bray Wyatt was released from the company, and that storyline never concluded. But the Alexa Bliss gimmick continued and is currently involved in a feud with Eva Marie. Bliss’ friend Lily has been a major part of this storyline and the only way her gimmick could end is if Eva Marie could pick up a win. But considering her recent outings on Raw, it seems quite unlikely but we can expect some surprise from this match.
