WATCH: Goldberg viciously spears down Universal Champion Roman Reigns

Goldberg and Reigns

Roman Reigns is the biggest Superstar on the WWE roster today. He had won the Universal Championship at Payback, after he returned to the company after a brief break at Summerslam 2020. Since then, his reign has extended to over 500 days, which is one of the longest title reigns in the history of the company.

Over his current reign as the Universal Champion, Reigns has successfully defended his title against the likes of John Cena, Edge and Brock Lesnar. While his feud with Lesnar will continue at the main event of Wrestlemania – the two Superstars have taken a little detour and were booked for separate matched at the Elimination Chamber.

On an episode of Smackdown, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg made his return to the company and challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Considering the event was scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia, Goldberg’s appearance was exactly surprising. Interestingly, this was also his final match in his WWE contract.

The opening match of the Elimination Chamber witnessed Roman Reigns putting the title on the line against Goldberg. In what seemed like a battel of equals, the WWE Hall of Famer came really close to pinning Reigns. In fact, he even delivered some vicious Spears to the Tribal Chief and arguably, they were better than the ones Reigns delivers! You can checkout the video here:

In what seemed like the first time in a long time, Roman Reigns managed to win the title cleanly. After connecting a Spear, Goldberg was going for a Jackhammer. But somehow the Tribal Chief managed to counter the move and applied his iconic guillotine choke.

While the WWE Hall of Famer tried his best, he eventually passed out – leading to Reigns retaining the title. With this win, Reigns is guaranteed to walk into Wrestlemania as the Universal Champion. Now it remains to be seen whether Brock Lesnar can win the WWE Championship and make it a title vs title bout.
