16-time WWE World Champion John Cena returns to Raw
Cena and Reigns
Multi-time WWE World Champion John Cena made his surprise return to WWE in the final moments of Money in the Bank 2021. Roman Reigns successfully defended his Universal Championship against Edge in the main event, right before Cena made his return.
It has long been rumored that John Cena will be facing Roman Reigns at Summerslam, which is supposed to be a Wrestlemania-equivalent PPV this year. Since these rumors started going around, Cena himself teased a return on numerous occasions. Predictably, Cena received the loudest pop of the night from the crowd.
But fans won’t have to wait long to see Cena again, as the 16-time World Champion is scheduled to appear on the upcoming episode of WWE Raw. Surprisingly, WWE World Champion John Cena will be feuding against Reigns, who is a part of the Smackdown brand. Hence, his appearance on Raw makes things interesting.
We need to remember that Cena is a “Free Agent” and is free to appear on any brand, as he is not bound by a specific roster.
WWE World Champion John Cena was last seen at Wrestlemania 36
Last year, Cena appeared at Wrestlemania 36, to face The Fiend Bray Wyatt. He lost the unique Firefly Funhouse match and wasn’t seen on WWE TV since. But with now a big ticket rivalry booked with the Universal Champion Roman Reigns, we will definitely see more of Cena.
Roman Reigns, arguably the biggest villain on WWE today, has defeated almost everyone on the Smackdown roster. But now he is up against the biggest challenge of his Championship reign. After all, he will be facing the biggest Face in the history of WWE.
