The third Tribal Combat match in WWE history took center stage in Turin this weekend when Roman Reigns defended the World Heavyweight title against Jacob Fatu at Clash in Italy. ‘The OTC’ was obliged to accept it due to his hierarchical status in the family. But he made sure there would be consequences to winning and losing this time around.
Reigns told Fatu on the final Raw before Clash in Italy that ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ will need to serve him should he lose the Tribal Combat. Speaking of the result, Reigns overcame his cousin in a brutal showdown. A major highlight of their match was Reigns chucking the steel steps over the top rope and aiming for Fatu’s head in a callback to the spot that John Cena had with the late great Umaga in 2007.

‘The Tribal Chief’ displayed veteran instincts to damage Fatu’s right hand with a toolbox so as to keep the 34-year-old from using the Tongan Death Grip effectively. It weakened Fatu’s grip in the later stages of the match, allowing Reigns to exercise control. But that alone wasn’t enough for Fatu to just throw in the towel.

He fed off the beating that Reigns was inflicting on him and even no-sold a couple of Superman punches in succession. An irate Reigns repeatedly slammed Fatu’s head into exposed turnbuckles and went for the spear. ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ countered it with a spear of his own, but Reigns kicked out. ‘The OTC’ hit a low blow on the Sacramento native while kicking out of Fatu’s mighty moonsault.

The ending sequence of the match saw Reigns spearing his cousin through a table leaned in the corner. It fetched the Pensacola native the hard-fought win, and he retained his status of the tribal chief too. The Usos came out to celebrate and bestow the revered Ula Fala on ‘Big Uce’ as the three of them looked on a defeated ‘Samoan Werewolf’.
Roman Reigns knew he was now entitled to an acknowledgement from Fatu as per the rules of the tribal combat. After stepping out of the ring, ‘The OTC’ noticed Solo Sikoa-led MFTs pop up near the barricade. Reigns told the Usos that he had something up his sleeve for them as well.
Fatu kept staring at the MFTs for a while before Jey Uso directed Jacob Fatu to accompany them to the back. Now that Reigns has neutered Fatu and the latter ought to fall in line, it’d be interesting to see how a naturally unhinged Fatu will cope with being a subordinate to the trio that he believed shunned him for years.
Becky Lynch ousted by Sol Ruca at WWE Clash in Italy
Sol Ruca pulled off a major upset at Clash in Italy by toppling Becky Lynch for the women’s Intercontinental Championship. They had a non-title match a week ago at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where Lynch pulled the lady ref, Jessica Carr, in the way of a Sol Snatcher from Ruca.

The referee therefore disqualified Lynch and declared Ruca as the winner via DQ. ‘The Man’ was later informed by SmackDown GM Nick Aldis that she’ll need to put the IC title on the line against the youngster in Turin.

In their match at Clash in Italy, Lynch once again used the lady referee Carr to her advantage. However, it didn’t work for the veteran female wrestler this time around. The 26-year-old managed to hit the Sol Snatcher clean on ‘Big Time Becks’ to win her first title on the WWE main roster.
Ruca defeated Bayley at Saturday Night’s Main Event the same evening John Cena had his final match. The former WWE Speed Champion also had gritty battles with the likes of Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky in the past couple of months and has now pinned one of the all-time greats in Becky Lynch too.
