LA Knight Explains Why His WWE Crowd Reactions Have Cooled off in 2026
LA Knight has shed some light on the lack of creative direction for him fading out his fan popularity in WWE.

LA Knight admitted in his latest chat with Chris Van Vliet on Insight that the WWE crowd reactions for him may have cooled off. He cited the lack of a set trajectory for him as the primary reason. ‘The Megastar’ underscored how he still gets the people in attendance on their feet whenever he’s in front of them.
However, the Maryland native didn’t ignore that those reactions aren’t as loud as they used to be circa 2023. Knight then looked back at what he was doing last year around this time. ‘The Defiant One’ was feuding with Seth Rollins and his then-stablemates of the Vision in their pursuit of the world title.
LA Knight believes WWE crowd reactions for him are lower in 2026 than 2023 because he doesn't 'have a set trajectory at this moment.'

It made the fans invest in Knight as they had something to sink their teeth into. The erstwhile Eli Drake explained it’s a matter of making sure there’s a particular direction for him, which he’s currently devoid of, and it has been like that for the majority of his time on the WWE main roster.
I’m just kind of a man without a country, so to speak. I don’t have a set trajectory at this moment. If you look at last year, last summer, when I started, all of a sudden me and Seth were going for the title, and it’s me and The Vision… it’s a matter of just making sure that I’ve got direction, I’ve got somewhere to go, and I’ve got somewhere that people care about, and something that people can sink their teeth into.

When asked by Van Vliet about what direction Knight would want to go for the fans to get behind him once again, the wrestler in question initially said he’s not a notoriously great planner. ‘The Megastar’ wasn’t exactly sure what was the most ideal scenario for him moving forward. However, he did talk fondly about taking the WWE Universe by storm in no time.
‘The Unchosen One’ brushed off some fan comparisons linking him with the likes of how Steve Austin and the former Daniel Bryan got extremely popular among the fans. The former TNA World Champion mentioned that the said names had already raked up some big wins and were pushed in a certain direction for the fans to naturally root for them.
But as far as LA Knight is concerned, he was being portrayed as an outspoken sore loser who would turn up to lose to minnows every other week and had a minute or so to talk some trash on the mic. But he endured all that, topped the chart for leading merchandise sellers across WWE, and had people demanding for him to become Mr. Money in the Bank not once but every time he’s been a part of it.
And that’s not because he had the entire WWE machine behind him. Although it did have to eventually acknowledge his popularity to a degree, as he had basically become undeniable at one point, LA Knight said that there’s still resistance from the people in charge despite all of that.
LA Knight on WWE viewing his age as a hurdle to invest in him
The age factor has been one of the most repeatedly thrown-around arguments in wrestling circles about LA Knight. He’s going to be 44 this November and wasn’t even on the WWE main roster until almost turning 40. Knight was asked in the aforementioned podcast how frustrating it must be for him to hear people talk about his age all the time when there are several others on the roster around the same age too.

The former 2-time US Champion thought it had everything to do with the fact that he started in WWE, being that up in age, while those who had already been with the company for years were essentially established, so to speak. Knight knew why he bore the brunt of those repeated fan debates on his age, and it also echoed in the WWE brass, whom he alluded to being hesitant about investing in him.
LA Knight gets why there would be hesitancy to push him in WWE if focusing just on his age:

‘The Megastar’ said he completely understood that sentiment if one just looks at the numbers. However, considering the former Max Dupri became mighty popular with the WWE crowds, so much so that he started receiving compliments about being a throwback to the acclaimed Attitude Era of WWE, he wished the leadership of the company would’ve figured out what they had in him.
However, he didn’t complain about WWE taking him at face value. But he also didn’t miss out on stating how things eventually turned out with fans getting firmly behind him within a matter of months. At the moment, there’s still an iota of hope, although most fans have given up on the idea that WWE will ever consider giving LA Knight a serious push.
There’s also a persisting belief that Knight will sooner or later be let go from WWE without ever being given a world title reign. He’s currently in the King of the Ring tournament and would be looking to win the crown in order to receive a crack at the world title at SummerSlam. Knight has already issued a warning to Roman Reigns via Jimmy Uso. It would be interesting to see if that leads to a match or not.
