Social media and podcasters started to compare Ravens star Zay Flowers to former NFL wideout Antonio Brown.

The Baltimore Ravens are hoping that this will finally be the season when Lamar Jackson and his offensive unit, led by Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers, will prove that they are worth the hype.
In the past two seasons, there were several high moments. But there were also many low moments, such as the loss to Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round in 2024.
However, last season was seen as a bigger disappointment after the Ravens missed the playoffs altogether. Despite their late-season charge, it was not enough to overcome the five out of six losses with which they started their campaign.
Soon, John Harbaugh was dismissed, and there were rumblings about Jackson’s future. But under new head coach Jesse Minter, the hope is that he can bring the best out of this team.
The lone bright spot was Flowers, who amassed a career high of 1211 yards. That led to some comparisons to a certain Antonio Brown. The latter, though, did not appreciate it.
If you say Zay Flowers with my name, you’re a loser… He fumbles too much. He can’t hold water. He sucks! Never mention me with that coward. He’s not me, and I’m being honest… That boy the reason Lamar Jackson can’t win… Ask any one of my quarterbacks, I’m the reason they win.
Antonio Brown said
The former superstar wideout went on Instagram Live to go on this rant. Clearly, he was not happy with the internet, comparing him with Flowers.

Other than bringing up the Ravens’ star’s domestic violence history, Brown made it clear that he is a winner. But Flowers is not, which explains why Lamar Jackson has not won anything yet, as per Brown.
DeAndre Hopkins defends Zay Flowers in deleted tweet
As soon as this rant went live on social media, it caught the attention of DeAndre Hopkins. The veteran may not be with the Ravens anymore, but that did not stop him from defending Zay Flowers.

U goofy talking ab [about] Zay, Bro use to look up to you.
Pro Football Network quoted DeAndre Hopkins
The 34-year-old deleted this tweet soon after, but Pro Football Network managed to capture what he wrote. It seems Hopkins did not appreciate Antonio Brown’s rant at his former teammate.
The latter has been ranting about a lot of things since retirement, but this was a direct shot at Flowers. As per Hopkins, this might affect the 25-year-old, as Brown was one of his idols.
Flowers may not have had the success Brown ended his career with, but there are reasons why many compare the two. The two Florida natives are similar in build and how they attack their defenders. But that is not as far as their similarities go.
Zay Flowers’ stats are better than Antonio Brown’s in first three seasons
Zay Flowers has played three seasons in the NFL and has amassed a combined 3,128 yards, with two 1000-yard receiving seasons. If anything, that should be enough to confirm he is a top-tier player.
In the same time span, Antonio Brown amassed just 2,062 yards, with one 1000-yard season to show. Sure, the latter was a sixth-round pick, which meant he was merely a role player in his debut season.
Flowers had the upper hand, as he started all sixteen games for the Ravens. But despite that, his numbers prove he is more or less better than the former champion was at that stage of his career.
Moreover, Brown went on to have league-leading seasons, and could wear the yellow jacket one day. The Boston College alum, on the other hand, has a long way to go before he can say he is in that category.
But this rant was uncalled for, and that is why DeAndre Hopkins had to step in. However, it cannot guarantee that the mercurial 37-year-old will not go off again.
