Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are reportedly planning a two-part wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden, with an intimate gathering set to take place ahead of a much larger event during the Independence Day holiday weekend in New York City.
According to reports confirmed by the New York Post, the couple will first host a private celebration on July 2 at Madison Square Garden, attended by approximately 100 close family members and friends. The smaller gathering is expected to serve as a precursor to a much larger celebration at the iconic venue the following day.
The second event, scheduled for July 3, is reportedly expected to welcome between 1,000 and 2,000 guests. The New York Times was the first to report details of the two-event format. Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly commented on the reports.
Page Six first reported in April that the couple planned to marry over the July 3 holiday weekend. Earlier this month, the outlet also reported that Madison Square Garden would serve as the venue for the ceremony, a location that holds special significance for Swift, who has performed multiple sold-out shows there throughout her career.
A source previously told the outlet, “Privacy was of number one importance to them both.” Another insider added, “Everyone’s been sworn to secrecy.”
In an effort to keep details from leaking ahead of the ceremony, the couple reportedly chose to communicate with guests by phone rather than sending traditional wedding invitations. Page Six also reported that several members of the Kansas City Chiefs have reserved rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Midtown Manhattan for the wedding festivities.
Meanwhile, Kelce’s fellow NFL tight end and Tight End University co-founder George Kittle addressed the growing speculation surrounding the reported venue during an appearance on Entertainment Tonight. Kittle revealed that he had asked Kelce directly whether the wedding was indeed taking place at Madison Square Garden.
“I actually asked Travis last night (whether it was at MSG) and he laughed at me, so. I’m half expecting there to just be a jumbo jet on a runway, and they put us on a plane somewhere.” Swift and Kelce have been together since the summer of 2023, with the Chiefs star proposing in August 2025.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding preparations include street closures and security plans
Preparations for the wedding have also involved coordination with New York City officials. City Hall confirmed that Winick Productions filed a permit application with the city’s Street Activity Permit Office covering July 2 through July 4. The application requested temporary street closures around Madison Square Garden and permission to install a public tent outside the venue.
The permit listed attendance of between 500 and 999 people for the outdoor setup. A person familiar with the event told the New York Post that trucks are expected to use West 33rd Street for loading and unloading during the production.

Winick Productions declined to comment, while representatives for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have not responded to requests regarding the permit.
The reports follow earlier plans for a smaller wedding at Swift’s Rhode Island home. Page Six previously reported that the couple later decided to expand the celebration and move it to Madison Square Garden to accommodate a larger guest list.
The venue has no public events scheduled between June 29 and July 6. Swift most recently appeared at Madison Square Garden during Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals after performing there numerous times throughout her music career.
The couple also recently celebrated with separate pre wedding gatherings, with Swift spending time at her Rhode Island home and Kelce traveling to Los Angeles with close friends ahead of the ceremony.
