Sami Zayn has been getting overwhelmed by the constant outpouring of support since he won the WWE Championship at Night of Champions. The Syrian-Canadian wrestler recently shared a wholesome moment with two of his closest friends in the business: Kevin Owens and Becky Lynch.
As seen in the following clip, Lynch could be seen bringing Owens in to surprise Zayn. The brand-new Undisputed WWE Champion held his brother-like friend for a long hug before noticing that Owens had a bow tie on, which ‘KO’ claimed was Becky’s idea in the first place.
The Arabic-speaking WWE star could also be heard saying that he underestimated how beloved he actually is. ‘The Last Real Good Guy’ was pleasantly taken aback by the amount of love and support he has received since pulling off a miracle in Riyadh. Zayn was also presented with a custom t-shirt with his nickname emblazoned over it.
Zayn, Owens, and Lynch put those tees on and posed for a quick photo. ‘The Man’ posted for Zayn’s watershed moment the night he shocked the world in Saudi Arabia. She posted a couple of pictures, with the first one taken backstage at WrestleMania 39, where Lynch and Zayn shared a warm embrace.
‘The Big Time Becks’ wrote in her caption that she was crying tears of joy back then, and she did once again when Sami Zayn did the unthinkable at Night of Champions. Kevin Owens also penned a heartfelt note for ‘The Great Disruptor’, wishing he could’ve been there in that moment when Zayn pinned Cody Rhodes’ shoulders to the mat.
I’ve missed a lot of things I wish I hadn’t in the last 15 months because of this injury but today is, by far, the one I wish I had been there for the most.

‘KO’ said Sami Zayn becoming a world champion in WWE was inevitable and added that the former ‘Honorary Uce’ deserved it for a very long time. The aforementioned video of Becky Lynch and Kevin Owens catching the Undisputed WWE Champion off guard seems to be from the company’s double-taping of Raw and SmackDown in Atlantic City this past Monday.

The newly-minted WWE Grand Slam Champion was also greeted by the WWE CCO Triple H at Night of Champions as soon as Zayn returned backstage to the Gorilla position. ‘The Game’ could be heard saying “congrats” repeatedly, while Sami couldn’t have been more grateful than he was in that moment. ‘Hunter’ asked Zayn to not leave without getting a photo together.
Sami Zayn on how he would handle losing the WWE title tragically soon
There’s been a lot of talk regarding Sami Zayn most likely ending up being a transitional world champion rather than getting an actual reign. It’s known from the pre-taping of this week’s SmackDown that the former Bloodline member will defend the big gold against Cody Rhodes on the upcoming edition of Raw in Chicago.

It has sparked speculation that Zayn will drop the WWE title to Rhodes for the latter to segue into a feud with CM Punk heading into SummerSlam. While it’s just speculation at this point, the likelihood of this actually happening couldn’t be ruled out at all given how WWE explicitly teased the Rhodes/Punk feud on Raw after this year’s WrestleMania with the WWE Championship on the line.
Sami Zayn recently sat down for a quick chat with ESPN New York. During the conversation, Zayn got asked by Peter Rosenberg how he would react if his current title reign were to end in a short order. The 41-year-old said it’d be a mix of being incredibly upset but also at the same time embracing the fact that he got to hold the biggest prize in all of sports entertainment for as long as it lasted.

Zayn talked about being content with his pro wrestling career even if he had never became a world champion in WWE. It’s because of the incredible stories he was able to tell and evoke all those kinds of reactions from the fans that very few ever get to do.
‘The Underdog from the Underground’ said there would always be a feeling to strive for more, and he thought it was necessary to succeed in this space. He wouldn’t scratch his head if he were to lose the WWE title a week from now or even if he hung on to it for a year or more. Sami Zayn also revealed receiving a text message from John Cena, who congratulated him for finally reaching the mountaintop.
