Daniel Jones says he’s ready for more workload at the Indianapolis Colts training camp. His Achilles is healing up nicely.

The Colts are aiming to take the jump in 2026 after dawdling in mediocrity for so long. Jones nearly delivered a great year before hurting his Achilles. The Colts could not recover.

Jones progressed to 7-on-7 work during the first phase of the Colts’ offseason training program and now is aiming to do everything at the July camp. Jones told James Boyd of The Athletic while hosting his youth camp:

I’m doing everything. I am cleared to do everything.

Daniel Jones is ready for year two with the Colts

That’s welcoming news for the Colts fans. An agonizing wait for postseason football nearly ended in 2025. The Colts won eight of thirteen games before Jones ruptured his Achilles while facing the Jaguars.

Seven months removed, Jones feels more zing in his step. He said:

I think it’s just about, at this point, sharpening that, getting more explosive, getting stronger, kind of improving what you can do. I can do everything and feel really good doing it… I think I’ve made a good amount of progress since minicamp and will continue to do that these next two weeks.

After the Colts ruled Jones out for the rest of the year, they shocked everyone by bringing back Philip Rivers from retirement. The veteran Pro Bowler displayed spark but went 0-3. Rivers shared snaps with rookie Riley Leonard, who logged a 0-1 record.

The Colts also have Anthony Richardson on the team. Richardson lost the starter’s job to Jones during training camp. It created a rift between him and the club. However, a freak accident left the former first-round draft pick with a fractured orbital bone in his eye, rendering him incapable of playing football. The Colts placed Richardson on the season-ending injured reserve list.

Jones led the Colts to wins over the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans (twice), Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, and the Atlanta Falcons. The 29-year-old finished his first year with the Colts with 261 completions (68%) for 3101 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Jones also rushed for 164 yards and scored 5 touchdowns. In March, the Colts signed Jones to a two-year $88 million contract extension.

Daniel Jones is giving back to the community

Experts were skeptical about whether Jones is the right fit for the Colts. The former sixth overall pick only had one winning season with the New York Giants before mutually parting ways with the team. He spent one year in Minnesota before the Colts decided to give him a chance to redeem himself. Their gamble has half-paid off. Jones still needs to deliver results in 2026 to remain at the steering wheel.

But before that, he’s doing some community work. According to the Colts’ official Twitter account, Jones recently visited Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning’s Children’s Hospital and met with some of the kids.

There’s no bigger fan of Jones than former Colts punter Pat McAfee. The ESPN analyst started the trend of calling DJ “Indiana Jones” as an homage to reviving the hopes and dreams of the club.

FOX Sports metrics suggest that the Colts have +4500 odds to win the 2026-27 Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium. Their odds are better than the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘.
