Mike Macdonald took advice from someone with experience of winning the Super Bowl before facing the New England Patriots at Super Bowl LX. All signs pointed to Tom Brady, which created buzz on social media.

Dave Portnoy, a staunch Patriots supporter and the founder of Barstool Sports, called out Brady in a fiery post.

If this doesn’t [expletive] you off as a Patriots fan, you are dead on this inside. I’m not going to say who they are saying gave a ton of advice to the Seahawks before the Super Bowl, but the guy has a statue in front of our stadium. What a joke.

Macdonald quickly ruled out Bill Belichick. He said,

Probably can’t mention one guy that really helped us out that had some conflict of interest.

Many quickly pointed fingers at Brady. The 48-year-old won seven rings during his playing career and has a statue outside of Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. Moreover, prior to the Super Bowl, Brady said something that made a lot of people angry.

Look, I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one. May the best team win. And in terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England. And I’m glad everyone has embraced the [Mike] Vrabel regime, all the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position. We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back and it’s a very exciting time for everyone in New England.

Portnoy calling Brady out made sense. However, his hypothesis was quickly debunked by NFL insider Zach Gelb.

I reached out to Mike Macdonald to get clarification on his comments on the [Dan Patrick Show]. I asked if [Tom] Brady was the person with the “conflict of interest” that gave input to the Seahawks before the Super Bowl. Mike told me it wasn’t Brady that he was talking about in the interview.

Tom Brady gave a shout-out to England soccer star

On Saturday, July 11, the England national team took on Norway at Miami Stadium for a place in the final four of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Star midfielder Jude Bellingham scored a brace, one goal in each half, to secure a 2-1 victory for the Three Lions.

England qualified for the semi-finals for the first time since Russia 2018. Brady celebrated Bellingham’s performance with a tweet.

Hey Juuuude.

Brady and Bellingham share a connection in their lives. Bellingham is a graduate of the Birmingham City FC academy. After spending a couple of years with the English soccer club, Bellingham transferred to Borussia Dortmund and currently plays for Real Madrid in Spain.

Brady became a minority stakeholder in the Midlands club in 2023. While they were never formally part of the club at the same time, it’s a humble gesture from Brady to give a shout-out to the 23-year-old.
