Days after Aaron Donald trained at the Los Angeles Rams facility, a major update about his NFL future received a generous boost. Star wide receiver Davante Adams teased Donald’s potential return with a clever post on Instagram.

Donald retired in 2024 after spending a decade with the Rams. He earned three Defensive Player of the Year honors and a Super Bowl winner’s medal in 2021-22.

Two years after walking away from football, there are rumors that the 35-year-old will return to the Rams to win a second ring. Adams, whom the Rams signed last year, is a close friend of Donald. The All-Pro wideout shared a photo with Donald, captioning it “my brudda,” to fuel more speculation.

Donald is still in peak physical condition. His Instagram feed suggests that he works out routinely to stay in shape. If the 6-foot-1 pass rusher decides to come out of retirement, the Rams will welcome him back with open arms.

In June, head coach Sean McVay revealed that he spoke with Donald before trading for Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.

Aaron [Donald’s] a guy that I stay really close in touch with, and I know the respect that he has for Myles, talked to him about the opportunity to be able to bring him on board. Aaron decides he wants to dust them off at the age of 35; I bet you he could still do it at a pretty high clip.

Garrett, the reigning DPOY, further added to the excitement by admitting that he would love to share the field with Donald.

The Rams signed Adams ahead of the 2025 season. Adams played 14 games, caught 60 passes for 789 yards and scored 14 touchdowns (most in the league).

Shortly after Adams posted the photo, Donald shared it on his Instagram story.

Well, it doesn’t confirm that Donald will unretire, but certainly something to look forward to for the Rams fans.

ESPN insider explained the purpose of Aaron Donald’s visit to the Rams facility

On Monday’s edition of the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter discussed Donald’s recent visit to LA in length. Schefter revealed that Donald was at the facility to test whether his “body” and “mind” could still keep up with regular football training.

Schefter further added that the Rams are the best place for Donald.

It’s an unbelievably attractive arrangement for him. It’s just a question of whether he wants to go through and do it. My guess is, in the end, that he will. Because obviously, he’s thinking hard about it… I would think it’s got to be awfully enticing for him to come back to play this year, when the Super Bowl will be in LA.

Schefter revealed on the Pat McAfee Show

Donald made 154 appearances for the Rams, racking up 543 combined tackles, 111 sacks, 176 tackles for loss, 21 passes defended, 24 forced fumbles, and 7 forced returns.
